Love how he got the RLPA award... massive fark you to the NRL for changing its criteria mid-season, most likely once a clear frontrunner had already been identified.

IMO the NRL shoulda let him get it and then post-season gotten together to be like 'hey we need to tighten our rules as that was a but silly'.

Either way IDK who's eligible but feel there's a fee blokes on our books who are not only eligible but should potentially be retrospectively allocated any points that were received by Marky Mark prior to the rule change.

PS - cheeky but is Billy Smith a rookie? IMO he'd be close given this is potentially his first full season.

Mark was ineligible for the NRL Rookie of the year award because of a mid year NRL rule change - used to be a player was not eligible for the this award if they played 5 NRL games in a season - now it's 5 matches in any professional code.

So an AFL or Football player who transfers to Rugby League will also be ineligible even though those football codes are completely different games.
