i thought it was a clear cut hip drop (as the mrc has acknowledged by charging him with a grade 1). it was a tired tackle and maybe he was unlucky to collect the left ankle but he was equally lucky not to collect the right leg. doesn't matter that he didn't collect him with his hip, he chose not to stay on his feet, he chose to 'drop'.
given that the mrc takes into account the extent of the injury it was fair enough that the dogs contacted the nrl - it would have been a bad look if montoya runs out on friday but the fact that montoya still suffered a 'minor ligament/capsular sprain' and could be out for 1-3 weeks makes it odd.
I thought he was unlucky to originally to be facing a ban, I didn’t think there was much in the tackle.
I was happy to be facing the sharks without him but with him playing I don’t think it will make any difference to the result and expect us to rack up a big score.
I'm not expecting the judiciary to be anywhere near as helpful to us should one of our players be charged with a similar offence, but the fact is that if we can't beat a full strength Cronulla then we don't deserve to progress.
The NRL is a f#cking joke.
Hynes injures Montoya with a dangerous tackle
Automatic suspension.
Do the crime - do the time
A roosters player in the same situation would be on the sidelines.
This stinks nearly as bad as the Billy Slater shoulder charge, and they allowed him to play the 2018 GF
I Hope it works out the same for Hynes as it did for Slater - remember how the Roosters pressured Slater in his final match, and he put in a shithouse performance to boot?
