  • Egan Butcher

Cops a lot from our fans and this isn’t addressed to those who have critiqued his form or some of the fundamental errors he was making in the first half of the seasons because I think that was all valid.

But rather those who said he offers nothing, or that he must have photos of Robinson to be picked.

He has had a brilliant last month or so of footy, this is what he offers. Mobile middle forward who just runs with a lot of aggression and tackles his ass off.

I thought the mobility of our bench last night was a real point of difference, Wong, Watson & Butcher were all very good.

Yes he’s been very good of late and let’s hope it continues. Someone mentioned his size and athleticism which was something I noticed at Shark Park when he was out in the centres At first I wondered who it was and had to double take when I realised it was Egan Butcher
I respect all our moderators here. Past present and even future. Always have done and always will do a wonderful job.

Yep, for sure, this last month he has been really good. It is " amazing " what players can achieve when they run STRAIGHT and HARD.

Even my mate Angus made a couple of good straight runs early in the game last night. But then he went off the boil - again. Bench him next week.

Egan is looking super fit atm also, doesn't appear to be carrying any niggles and is playing his best football in forever. His hands and the brain fades worry me but there was none of that last night.......hope it continues.

Egan's role has been streamlined. It was the ball playing element of his game that was letting him down.

He's quite explosive for his size so when he decides to run straight and hard he can be a handful for the opposition.

His runs have helped us play off the front foot which makes life easier for our halves.

I was one of the critics and I stand by what I said. I was critial of his selection because he was not showing any of his better attributes and some in the fringe of the 17 were not getting an opportunity. I am glad that we have now seen form that Robbo must have known was possible.
Seeing him running last night he is a bit of a Matt Burton look-a-like without the kicking skills.
Just because he is now deserving of a spot in the 17 doesnt mean that he does not have phitos too.

Egan has never really been a tuck it under and the arm and run type player. In fact his skill has has probably let him down by pushing the pass or looking to create before even catching the ball. His off the ball support plays have been excellent. May his good form continue

Keeping his game simple seems to be the key
he won’t be a rads or Murray with ball playing but short 40-50 min of simple run and tackle hard seems to be his best fit

he is 25 and we have waited a while but the last month or so he is actually proving why they stuck by him
not to mention Foketi and steep also coming up and giving him completion to keep his spot which I reckon he new he had to fight for his spot as well

Great thread R6, I have always backed him yes he had the fumbles but that’s because his role was way more complicated then it needed to be he’s a middle that’s it run hard tackle hard and hold the pill, he has a great offload also his carries are his strength PCM are fantastic.

                  He’s a keeper full stop.

He kicked it dead on the 5th with the game in the balance, this is why his role needs to be simple he’s not a thinker just a doer of the simple things.

egan's really come good the last month or so. he seems to have come to terms with his body better. he's not big for a middle and in the past sometimes tried to play above his weight but everything seems to be in sync atm

Had easily his best game for us last night.

Hope he can bring that kind of intensity into the finals.

Was critical, some of the balls he lost were ridiculous. Has cleaned up his discipline and really improved his game, to a point where he adds from the bench

No chance - they need a former Bunny to go out there and wreck 'em.
