Burnt his goodwill now. I’d sack him immediately purely from the disrespect he’s shown Nick P and dragging our clubs name and his teammates through the mud for his stupidity. Good way to clear cap space.

The spin doctors will weave their magic and bring the matter to rest.

Uncle Nick, God bless you mate, but you stuck your neck out when you said what you did about recreational drugs.
Yes, it was said in light of the Ezra fiasco however, it was always going to come back and bite the club because the devil's dandruff is popular across ALL codes, and the corporate sector for that matter.

Absolute meathead he’s a Rooster yes but an absolute fool especially after Nick Politis made it crystal clear that if you took drugs you will be gone.
He will probably join Smiff at Souffs.

          • If Victor is sacked over this it’s a farce.

There wouldn’t be a player in the squad who hasn’t touched the stuff.

Make him do a drug course or something, very highly doubt he would need rehab. But pull out all the stops to try and not make too much of a fool of uncle nick. He doesn’t need to be sacked though.

I agree however, Nick came out publicly stating that they would not tolerate it.

Personally I thought it was the wrong call to make. It was always going to come back to haunt him, the club and the fans.

              • It's only allegations at this stage – no evidence that any illegal substances were supplied or consumed.

Texting others if allegedly up to something possibly illegal is not a smart move – law enforcement can subpoena phones and access text messages by various means.

Not sure of the legality of these text messages being made public, though, as there has been no court mention as yet of the alleged QLD Police case against Brandon Smith.

How did these media outlets obtain these phone texts, though? Smith's lawyer will argue the publishing of these texts is detrimental to his client's interests in getting a fair trial.

It's no different to the Police obtaining alleged evidence of a crime without a search warrant - Should be inadmissible in court.

                • I don’t understand why people on here seem to think it’s as if what Victor did was something as insignificant as showing up late to work, if he’s convicted of wrong doing and is terminated he has to live with that.
My employer would sack me if I breached the drug and alcohol policy no questions asked, how is Victor and the Roosters stance any different?
Uncle Nick said zero tolerance what is so wrong about this and so difficult to understand? It’s crystal clear.

Yes, Uncle Nick basically shouted his/Trent's/the Club's new "zero tolerance" drugs policy thru society at maximum volume. It was everywhere in the electronic and print media earlier this year.
                    DT online just now reports:
"Roosters chairman Nick Politis is working with senior club officials and lawyers on Victor Radley's future at the club following.....".
Article states Radley is contracted to the Roosters until 2027.

                    *

Could be that he hasn't done anything illegal, done nothing to breach the wording of his club contract and NRL rules, but maybe his club is not happy with the text messages.
                    Who knows?
                    Court case is tomorrow?

                    • It would explain our ball dropping and inconsistency a lot.

Buying cheese was the biggest mistake our club made for a long, long time.

Think it’s unfair to tar all the players with the same brush. I agree it’s ubiquitous but still doesn’t mean everyone is complicit in using it. I would suspect a lot of the Polynesian boys wouldn’t.

I think it’s more punishment for his stupidity and making Uncle Nick look foolish than anything.

                          • If I recall , Nick was just supporting Robbos commentary about drugs, when he was going through his "I have a thought about and know everything and will talk about everything " savant phase. Fortunately, but too late for Rads, he's taken his foot out of his mouth in recent times.

There were a few cases of Sydney Train and Bus drivers being sacked for failing random drug and alcohol testing but were reinstated by the Fair Work Commission as their employer didn't offer them drug and alcohol dependency counselling. - Not only reinstated but awarded compensation.

Radley should be in contact with the RLPA

I worked at one of the major news organisations many years ago and 2 employees were sacked after coming back from lunch with alcohol in their system.
They ended up getting their jobs back with backpay as FWC agreed they could have been returning from lunch and going home sick, the company never gave them that chance.

High chance Rads is guilty but without 100% proof which there doesn’t seem to be it could be an expensive dismissal on our part.
