G.W., saying that is like saying Craig Emerson is the best singer in the ALP.

he has now played 9 origin games - alot of players dont get that many chances to step up and produce
9 Origins, 100+ 1st grade games, 6 seasons in 1st grade, Id say another 5 or so years would be fair.

John, I prefer to paraphrase Winston Churchill quote "democracy is the worst form of government except for all the other forms of government" to "Pearce is the worst halfback in NSW except for all the other halfbacks in NSW."

He has a brain the size of a peanut, the only thing he is capable of taking advantage of, is a photographer willing to shoot him and his handbag for a 3 page spread in the socialite pages.

I think Cordner has been our best player but even Mortimer in his couple of appearances has impressed me a lot more than Pearce. Pearce is a very average first grader and if he went to another club I would be happy.

I'll be happy when we have a competitive team.

Unfortunately he doesn't have a football brain.

                That will never come.

Pearce can organise a root in an Artarmon brothel but can't organise a football team.

Pearce is a fair player, he can tackle despite what most puppets post on here and he has good a great pass and I am sure he can improve his kicking game. Ppl need to consider our forwards got rapped the other night hence he didnt get much room at all. I think if Mitch gets a decent 5/8 and FB and forwards that win the ruck I am sure he will be more then adequate. There is no better aqlternative!!!!!!!!!!! so what is the use of rubbishing one of our own?

Considering our big boys at easts cant close a game and we have no 5/8 and poor coaching, I think he has been OK

That's the way I am looking at it. Not much point continually bagging him. He was ordinary Wednesday night. Hope he learns from the experience & mans up on Monday night.
Just hope the Pearce/Maloney/Morts connection works next year.

Bingo! Every kick went straight to the back 3 which left the defensive line short every time but no one seemd to notice. Great coaching by Mal to realise that we would kick every time and not run it late. Shame the Blues didnt see it happening every time and try to change it by mixing up their last two plays a bit.

What I want to know is, why the decision by Smith to "bulk up" Pearce. One thing I do know is, it was Smith's decision, as I heard it directly from the horse's mouth.

Does every good young halfback have to be the "new Joey" and end up weighing the same as an obese front-rower?

Does Ben Barba need to bulk up to 130kg before he becomes a good halfback at the Dogs? Did Alfie need to bulk up to the size of Lazzo? Did Adrian Lam ever bulk up to Beetsonesque proportions?

Did Ricky Stuart ever bulk up? Jonathon Thurston is hardly the chunkiest half/five-eighth in the comp, but he still manages to be just about the best.

After bulking up last year, Pearce has lost all his agility and most of his speed. I cannot, for the life of me, see the sense in it!

Thaaaaaaanks a lot Bwian, great decision.

Its not Bwians fault. Its the extra 'bed work' Pearceys been putting in!

Why can't the fullback and the 5/8 and the forwards get a decent halfback instead of vice versa?
