  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Bulldogs

I haven’t been this pumped for a home game since opening night at the new stadium.

Forget the Tigers, Titans and Cowboys. Those games are nothing but warm-ups.

Yeah, we’ve had two big wins. But let’s be honest, Manly are fringe top 8 at best and the Dolphins were so under-strength they couldn’t defend a garden shed. That was just target practice.

Tonight is the real deal. A proper Sydney derby. A battle for bragging rights. A tuft war. We are the leading Sydney team!

From the opening tackle, we hunt. We smash them in the middle, run them ragged on the edges, and make every metre hurt. By the time the siren sounds, their “fans” will be running off home knowing they’ve been exposed as pretenders, frauds and soft. They will be a bunch of sad terrorists.

This is our house. This is our night.

    Kick-off 8pm.

    GO YOU MIGHTY ROOSTERS!

If the pack plays like they did last week I can’t see the Bulldogs middle holding them out. Hopefully they correct the round 11 loss.

Caaaarn Easts!!! I'm cutting work to attend the game (feels like a bit of a d-day to me) so they'd better win for us.

Why don’t we catch up? Would be great to meet.

Massive moment in our season. The Dogs are well drilled and persistent. They won’t go away even if we go on a tear early. This will take an 80 min performance.

            I can’t wait.

            Roosters by 2.

            GO EASTS !!

It should be a good game Hoping we can get the win but Mutts will be a hard team to beat

TEAM LISTS ARE FAIRLY EVEN. CONTROLL THE BALL=WIN THE GAME. galvin is their weakness and burtons bombs need shutting down early.

Pretty hard to shut Burton’s kicking game down - especially with the protection the kickers get in today’s rules but I agree we need to pressure him as much as we can. They are such a weapon those bombs especially in a slippery night game. Hopefully it’s not too windy as in the wind they are deadset almost impossible to handle.

The way I see it is if we win tonight, we make the finals. Tonight’s game is our most important game of the year so far.

If the sharks and dolphins lose this weekend and we win of course we will jump to 7th but if Broncs lose to dolphins it’s not a bad result for us as well - we won’t jump them but broncs sharks dolphins and roosters could all be on 28 if that happens so we potentially have more ways to make the 8 in that scenario. It’s getting very interesting - I know being 9th is not ideal this time of year but as a fan it certainly gives us a strong interest in lots of games we wouldn’t normally give a toss about.

Maybe it's time we break the mould from Robbo's preferred end over end bombs and launch a few spirals ourselves. I imagine Hugo could probably launch them as well.

Gotta say I feel as excited about today's game as I do at semi-final time. If we can win we will have a rolling week on week of semi-final games. Will be real buzz. Fingers crossed.

Excited. Anxious. Sick. Kick off too far away.
Haven't felt like this for a long time.

                              GO EASTS.
