He is apparently refusing to sign a contract extension because he wants to play in the Rugby World Cup. We might end up losing him at the end of next season.

ARU said recently they are happy with their depth but always happy to talk to anyone who wants to play union.
Marky was doing what he does today when he played union. There are others in front of him so it is unlikely he would make the Wallabies team. I doubt they would offer him bigger money than league.
I suppose the issue is how much we would pay a wing or do we move him to centre next year and at who's expense.
I hope we pay him overs for a wing position but can see him thrive at centre too.

Three negatives about Marky Mark.
1. His lack of speed for a winger. He always get's mowed down when he's in open space.
2. A staggering 38 errors for the season. An average of 2 per game and ranked 2nd for most errors in the NRL for 2025.
2. He won't commit beyond 2026.
Having a plan B in place is a good idea imo especially if there's a top tier centre/ winger available like Shibasaki.

2. Errors can be ironed out with training. Unless you are Shaun Kenny Dowall.
3. Yes. As good as he is, the spine and the top forwards in the pack need to come first. A bidding war with the ARU for a winger is not a path we should go down, as good as it would be to keep him.
I do hope we manage to keep him for a solid 4-5 years & get his defence and errors ironed out. He could evolve into an absolute beast of a center or second rower as time goes on.Last edited by Steakface; 08-12-2025, 03:13 AM.

it seems Manu was an option to come back but he lost interest to return to the nrl
it’s up to Marky with what he wants to do

The Wallabies just beat the Lions and should have won the series if not for their Kasey Badger equivalent in the bunker. FFS
They have a good team with depth.
Why would they sign someone who left the game and slot them straight back in and piss players like Jorgo off who chose union over league and is doing a super job?
The money on offer will also be less than league. Jorgo signed on for about $500K per year and Marky asked us a few months ago for $750K. I can't see them offering that kind of money.
If he goes he goes but I don't think it is as simple as him wanting to play in the World Cup so just sign me up.
If he goes I also doubt he will come back. The ARU won't sign him for one year.
I also doubt Suaalii will come back. He is on too good a wicket there now with his player option. Best case 2030.

they will do anything to get players accross
they offered suaali $1.5 and will have cash from their sugar hit with the lions so will be looking to spend RWC to gain any advantage they can
suaali also got a wallabies European tour without playing a game of rugby
I Agree it does seem odd but Marky may want to have another crack and I’m sure they won’t say no - to at least sign to the Waratahs for a year and try and make the wallabies - so they have everyone available and depth as they can
I’m sure if he told the roosters he wanted to be back in 2028 they would make Something happen toLast edited by Chook2; 08-12-2025, 02:18 PM.
