Now I’m usually one of the first to pile onto Souffs and I do enjoy seeing them get dominated but I think even the most ardent Souffs hater needs to acknowledge their injuries this year. The injuries and suspensions have been insane. They even lost their 18th man on kick off.

Still though, I would love nothing more than to see Bennett get a wooden spoon with them. That club is run so poorly and I think I’d even sympathise with a few Souffs fans who must be ropable at some of the decisions by the club in recruitment. Gone from perennial Top 4 and a GF to absolute basket case laughing stock in only a couple seasons.

We literally kicked out a 238 game veteran to bring in a million dollar mercenary and we will do the same with DCE don't act like we don't do the same stuff to our players.

I think the difference there is we had a plan, albeit a ruthless one when we brought Cronk in. They got rid of Reynolds with no contingency plan for their halves. It was purely to accomodate Latrell and the others and give them more cap space and control on the team. They went with Ilias, backed him as the future then turfed him immediately and blamed him for being shite, even though they’re even worse now . Now they have a NSW cup hooker playing halfback, are trying to turf out their English recruit without giving him more than a game to prove himself. All the while Reynolds has been a consistent presence in a side contending for the premiership ever since he’s left Souffs.

Nobody remembers the injuries we had those years. As nobody will remember Souffs injuries in a few years time. There will be no asterisk against the spoon if they happen to get it. Fingers crossed.

personally i don't get any joy from souths doing badly. i started watching the roosters in 72 so manly was the team everyone hated. if anything i wanted them to win because if the broncs lose a lot of games it could give us another route into the 8

Cronk a mercenary? He played for one club for his entire life and then left because his new wife was set up for work with Foxsports in Sydney. He was anything but. On the other hand Pearce was highly paid for a long time and returned the favour to the club by spending his offseason on benders and turning up unfit and unprepared.

Also, Mitchell Pearce was not moved on. They wanted him to stay and learn from Cronk, but he didn’t want to. It was his decision to leave.

I have empathy for their injured players but none whatsoever or respect for the club. People are gullible to the romanticism of a fake club even ex players like Sattler who had the distinction of being sent of 15 times! I know players who played against him and he was an outright thug. What happened in that GF with a broken jaw he had it coming for a long time. Typically after the win no officials visited him in hospital - they were too busy on the drink.
