  • Simple Question: Mark Nawaquanitawase Yes or No?

If Mark Nawaquanitawase chooses to leave at the end of 2026 do you want him with us next season?

He’s a free agent in November and supposedly rugby is attempting to lure him back.

The Roosters and the nrl should be doing everything in their power to keep him in this code. He is an out and out out superstar and goes about his business super professionally.
If we can start passing the ball right again that would be great.

The more he touches the ball the higher our chances are of winning

      Easy yes for two reasons.

      1. Nawaqanitawase has probably been one of the best "rookie" wingers this year. Some of the things he has done are incredible and having that kind of player in the team is very exciting and I'm sure hard to plan against for opposition sides.

      2. We don't have anyone to replace him who is nearly as good. Pauga is solid depth but not much past that, Junior Tupou from what I've seen is probably just as good as Pauga, no players available that are coming off contract either.

Weakening the team out of spite doesn't seem smart.

                Maybe. Dunno.

He is a mistake freak! Mark is ranked 3rd for most errors in the NRL.

Let's target Shibasaki from the Broncos who can play wing or centre. The bloke is a beast and rarely makes an error.

Why would you get rid of one of our best attacking weapon early ? Out of spite , to parachute a lesser player in ? That's as bad as picking Chad in first grade. Keep a gun as long as possible. We kept Craig wing in first grade for the rest of the season after signing with souths. For me absolute keeper.

Absolute yes. Dumb question really if I’m honest. Id like to see why anyone would say NO.

                      5 times better the suaali
and a 3rd of the price compared to what union is now paying suaali
amazing rugby crowd starting to realise Suaali has poor defence and little to offer in attack after the lions games now too

Dumb question? Okay, I can live with that. I don't follow others. I form my own opinion but I do respect others whose opinions are different to mine.

I hope Mark commits and stays long term.

Nobody is bigger than the club. I realised this a long time ago. Players come and go, but us supporters, we've been here long before most of them arrived and we’ll still be here long after they’re gone.

Of course, there are exceptions. Players who grew up as Roosters fans, who only ever wanted to wear our jersey and never considered playing elsewhere. Take Luke Ricketson, for example. A Roosters man through and through. But even then, do you really think he hurts after a loss as much as the die-hard supporters do? I doubt it.

I don’t follow players, I follow the club. The truth is, most of them are only here because we offered more money or because of the lifestyle perks that come with playing for a big, proud club like ours.

So when it comes to Mark, I struggle to see the point in developing his game next season if he’s not committed to the club long-term. Why invest in making him a better player just so he can return to rugby union?

It’s hard to truly support a player in our colours if he’s not fully committed. Yes, Mark is a rare talent with exceptional skills, but talent can be replaced. Loyalty and passion for the jersey can’t.

If he stays until 2027 and then heads back to union, I’ll wish him well. But I won’t be backing him with my full support while he’s here, knowing his heart might already be somewhere else.

but what you want from a fan is different from what you want from a player. we're about winning comps and he can help us win the ****er next year

We don't win the comp next year without Marky. He has scored and created so many tries for us. He is one of our most important attacking weapons.
There will be nobody anywhere near his ability to take his place in the short term.
The guy is a freak and would be fully committed to winning a premiership with us.
Obviously everyone hopes he stays, I worry more about Perth and the Saudis than the ARU but he has to move for a few years which may be against them. I think he stays.

It's a different metric you are applying to DCE in that now you are happy he is coming in 2026 for likely only 1 season, but you'd rather not have Marky N here next year if he isn't going to be with us in 2027. Personally I'd flip that argument around and want the opposite....but each to their own opinion.
