  • Toia and shotofsaki

Didn’t miss a tackle during origin, seen some turn styling since.
It’s always the way. Wally Lewis could be 15 kg overweight and sucking back gaspers yet get to Origin and would go hard for 80 minutes straight.
It’s the Laurie Daley curse as well.
You have to very careful when nice blokes want to take on a “ harder” persona. Inevitably, people will forgive a lot of short comings if you are kind and open. You better have more aces up your sleeve( like wisdom, cunning, inutiveness, sharp wit) if you want to shift gears.
Anyway, Toia , he has been a great find.
The chooks will be right up there again next year.
    The rebuild worked
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

looks a seriously good talent. very good game v saints, hasn't hit the heights in the last 2 games. he's had a good 9 day break and could come home with a wet sail

He’s played every game and an origin series, in his first year of FG - coming off multiple seasons of major injuries and missed footy. It wouldn’t be unusual if he had a rest or dropped back to NSW cup for a tune up, but hasn’t.

It’s been an incredible debut year from the kid.

Even though Bobby T has played SOO I think Billy Smith is more of a gun.
19 year old Casey McLean for Penrith excites me more than Bobby T.
Doesnt mean I dont like Toia, Im just saying.

Toia needs early clean ball to unleash his attacking ability. Our attack has been extremely clunky!

The outside backs are having to check their runs so they don't overrun the play. Round 22 and still no rhythm.FFS.

              I hate the term clunky.

To be fair to Toia, the last two games (both losses) have been without his regular half in Savala feeding him the ball.

I also rate Billy Smith and believe with all the Pasifika guys playing for the ‘home’ nations believe he could get a start in the Aus team at the end of the year Kangaroo tour.

Toia has been great this year, I hope he's with us for the next 10 years, who knows what his representative and club career will end up? Could be a 30+ time Origin player and premiership winner by the time it is all said and done.

Would love to see it for the comeback story alone but at the very least you'd have to think Latrell, Fidow, Burton, Best, Holmes, Lomax (Although likely to play wing) and maybe even Toia himself would get the nod before Smith right now.

people talked about us underusing latrell or joey manu, about keeping the ferrari in the garage, but toia is more the sleek sports car than either of them

I reckon he’s knackered after Origin.

I’ve been expecting more from him since then but the kid looks exhausted.

Hard to believe he has only played 16 FG games.
