  • Brandon Smith

We will not regret letting him go - still running his mouth on podcasts

This time did one with Paul Kent.

In summary has said how much more comfortable and happier he is at Souths due to Wayne(and Bellamy) being man managers.
Said Robbo is a tactical genius but overcomplicated his role (Cheese then admitted that he never actually plays to a game plan and only relies on instinct)

Then took it a step further and said that Robbo is a Brian Smith clone, which i got a chuckle out of....

IMO it is no coincidence that Robbo and Flanagan were mentored by Brian Smith and went on to become premiership winning coaches.

I always wonder why grown adults feel like they need to be man managed.

I also think it's a massive concern when a spine player thinks their role is over complicated.. you're there as a primary decision maker that's not a simple task... Although in fairness I have always thought he's a better 13 than he ever was a 9 so maybe he can't be blamed for being put into the role.

Of course Robbo is a clone of Bwian S.

Even Isacc Liu said when departing the Chooks that he won't miss Robbo's mind games.

Robbo tries so dam hard to make the Roosters so different to the other 16 clubs. That is why we never drop the ball or make errors ha ha. He sets the club up for ridicule: " Roosters way/style ".

He may need to work on a new model as the current one is too hit and miss. We look like we could win the comp when we're on and absolutely abysmal when we're not.

'The Middle Way' a core concept in Buddhism could be something Robbo introduces into next seasons playing system.

Brandon Smith is a man-child who unfortunately won't reach his potential until he grows up. Time is running out!

              When did Liu say that??

FWIW, Robbo and Brian Smith are miles apart in terms of coaching and man management.

Is it right to say that Brandon Smith is actually quite boring . I think his appeal lies in the fact that he “ speaks his mind “. This separates him from the media trained guys with their cliches but I never found Brandon Smith insightful, intelligent or thought provoking on his podcast. As Bates said, a man child, needs to grow up

At the awards night in Liu's last year. True mann. It was tongue in cheek. But he said it.

It's a shame Brian Smith never won a comp. This makes him a soft target!

imo he was a very good coach!

What would this idiot know about Brian Smith anyway? Smithy gets undeserved hate for never winning premierships in Australia but he was a brilliant coach that unfortunately got stung by a Parra choke job in 2001 but those Dragons teams he had in the mid 90s punched well above their weight there's no shame in losing grand finals to the Broncos who would have had a dozen origin players in their squad when the Dragons would've only had Mackay and maybe Coyne debuted before 1995 that's it.

Go through those Dragons lineups for the grand finals then go through the Broncos, Raiders, Sea Eagles and Bulldogs lineups Smithy did great with the Dragons and then dad's army Parra

2010 was one of my favourite seasons to experience live when that team clicked and went on their multiple 5 game winning streaks they were awesome to watch and it was down to Smith, it all fell apart in 2011 sadly.

Smith left the Storm specifically to play 9 so he does not deserve to absolved of the blame here in fact it should be increased that he didn't listen to coach with regards to playing the role how the coach wanted it played

I'm pretty sure Flanagan's first real coaching role was with us under Ricky....more explains the angry deflecions

Yeah, Flanno was coaching in our lower grades and got punted at the same time as Sticky. I reckon he thought was a chance at the top job. He was very bitter towards us for a long time after.
