FWIW Foxsports is reporting that Radley is heading for scans and potentially an extended stint on the sidelines with that shoulder injury he suffered against the Sharks on the weekend.

Storm enforcer banned for elbowing rival’s head, mixed injury news for Roosters

    SMH

One enforcer in, one enforcer out.

Melbourne’s Nelson Asofa-Solomona is set to miss Thursday’s showdown with the Roosters as he faces a three-game ban for elbowing, while the Tricolours own hitman Victor Radley will manage a shoulder injury after scans cleared him of serious injury.

The Roosters do face being without halfback Hugo Savala once more for a critical clash with the Storm though after he was spotted in what the club described as a precautionary moon boot while already recovering from a wrist injury.

Savala had a cortisone injection to ease a foot injury last week and given the young playmaker was already out with ligament damage in his wrist, he is considered unlikely to be available.

While Roosters coach Trent Robinson recalled Chad Townsend for his first NRL appearance since April in an error-riddled 31-18 loss to Cronulla last week, playmaker Sandon Smith was also withdrawn from NSW Cup on Saturday.

Immortal Andrew Johns on The Sunday Footy Show described Townsend’s elevation over Smith against the Sharks as a “head scratcher” that he couldn’t comprehend given Smith’s Anzac Day heroics against the Dragons and running threat this season.

Radley failed to finish the Sharks contest but has been cleared to play against Melbourne provided he gets through a short training week unscathed.

Rival Asofa-Solomona was on Sunday issued a 2-3 game suspension pending his plea after he elbowed Manly’s Jake Simpkin in the head, his fifth judiciary charge in the past two seasons.

The Storm and Kiwi star had loomed as a crucial figure in Thursday’s trip to Sydney given his game-breaking ability and penchant for playing on the edge, and over it, as was the case when he hit Lindsay Collins high in the first minute of last year’s preliminary final.

Watson to 13. ZDC to 9. Concretor to 8. Steep to 11.

Bench: Angus, Spencer, Lindsay (wake these 3 up) and ??

      Shake things up coach.

Surely, Radley takes a rest on the sideline this week and Foketi comes in at lock ?

Anything that gets Watson away from playing dummy-half is a good thing.

I hate playing the Storm. We always finish with injuries, hia’s or suspensions regardless of whether we win or lose. Hope Rads will be ok.

I like this a lot but I would put ZDC on bench and have the human vowel machine, Ioelu as starting hooker.

i cant remember what the game was when Trent pulled Ioelu from the field earlier than predicted.( and hasnt played since) This was due to his playing for himself style game. I like the guys but he needs a bit more team structure in him and a little less adlib footy. TBH its not a bad thing to rest Victor. he is running on a treadmill at the moment and hardly offering anything but good defence. Watto 13, Benni at 9 and zdc as the 14. or switch the two.

I'd play Watson at lock. We will need some variety around the ruck. He can then switch to Dummy half during the game to give ZDC a rest.

Anyone know how far off Nat Butcher is? i know he has done his MCL twice but hasn't played since round 4

That's 16 weeks off so surely he is close.....

anyway for this week - sit Radley he has been a liability all season

                      9. ZDC
                      13. Watson
                      14. Sandon

He was named to play a couple of weeks ago but re-injured the knee at training so the recovery timeline was reset. I think the NRL.com injury section has a projected return date being round 22.

If Sandon is 14 who do you have as 6? Thought Hugo was out this week as well?

Losalu should be starting prop every week with Fahu ….Collins has dropped off badly (as much as it pains me to say).
…..if Townsend is picked again this week , I’m done with the chooks for this year.

Such a shame that Elliott is injured, as he would have been a better replacement for Hugo rather than ol' Chad.
