  • Bunker or Flunker?

I'm not blaming the officials for last nights result. That is definitely all on us!

What I'd like to know is how the Bunker could miss the knock on by Cam McInnes (which led to a try) when they watched the replay countless times and the Billy Burns try which to me looked like a double movement. The replay confirmed that Spence had a hand on him at the time the ball touched the ground. That to me constitutes a tackle! The ball carrier then promotes the ball over the try line which as we all know is classified a double movement.

How can they get this shit wrong when they have the luxury of watching a replay and countless angles?

I tried rewatching it, and couldn’t clearly make out if he had a hand on him or not, but I also don’t think that should be classed as a completed tackle by barely having contact on a player for a momentary second.

they said the bunker couldn’t go back to the knock on because the ref called set restart, which would be like going back to a previous tackle which the bunker can’t do.

the NRL is a clusterfcuk with it’s rules and interpretations.

spencer clearly has his hand on him and the arm holding the ball is clearly on the ground. NRL 2025: Trent Robinson press conference, disbelief at Billy Burns try, Sharks vs Roosters, what happened, rugby league news
not to mention the bunker's record on sin-binning in our games. we've had two blokes given acls by tackles that the mrc charged which were unpenalised while having sammy binned for a legal second man in tackle.

I blame the officials for the loss - it’s so tiresome watching a team get done over by the NRL psychological warfare imposed by absolute bias upon the rookies and experienced players. The frustration of that is why we are often an error riddled team.
The players and Robbo knew well before kick off they were going to be screwed by ref Turd Smith and his cohorts in the bunker. Turd allowed the Sharks to play offside whilst not giving us any 6agains when we were threatening. As soon as the Sharks had possession it was a penalty to get them out of trouble. It’s all a too a familiar pattern.
I’m just about done with the NRL and the longer the time of V’Landy in charge it will only continue. He has taken it to another level since covid with the rule changes and going back to the one ref and using the no funds excuse. At least in years gone by when pokies ruled the game, games could be decided by the bounce of the ball.

We didn’t play well but were totally shafted by the game managers

The shire scored only 2 tries without assistance from the carpark paper bag taker. All ours were without any assistance.
thier first try was from a unruled on obstruction taking out Connor.
The refs are trained to be aware of teams, players and their individual traites. Ours obvioysly has lots.
another rort job. We could win a 50 /50 call if we had a paper bag full.
any how at the end of the day we will only get better and rub the noses of those who would like to see our demise. Rwb for life

Definitely flunker. I had a couple of sharks supporting mates message me this morning saying that the officials decided the result.

That rule seriously needs to be tweaked. E.g The Bunker should be able to go as far back (if required) to the previous break in play. They do it with foul play! The idea of the Bunker is to get the correct ruling on a play so why limit it's parameters.

You wanna bet when they finally do go way back beyond a previous play to make a ruling .....it will be to disallow one of our tries ?

I seem to recall in round 2 v The Riff that they went back a few tackles to penalise and bin Foketi with 7 minutes to go.

I have been waiting for a try to be disallowed for an incorrect play the ball and I'm sure if it happens it will be one of ours.

They like to talk about how the Bunker gets 98-99% of calls right. The ones they get wrong change games.

I can’t stand Flanagan snr but he was 100% right with his claim that the bunker cost them the Dogs game.

                          Agreed.

That was a great game that was tarnished by poor officialdom.

If youre confused about the Billy Burns non double movement bunker decision then check out Wayde Egans try today that was called a double movement

Im sure the bunker just make up their own interpretations of the rules on the run
