  • Manu signs with French Rugby club - Racing 92 (end 2027)

Nothing but great memories of Joey Manu, and good luck to him.

Along with previous players (Boustead, Wing and RTS) all whom I was also very sad to see leave, I wish Joey Manu and his family all the very best with his endeavors in France and whatever the future may hold.

NRL news: Roosters fans get definitive answer after Joey Manu signs next contract until end of 2027
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

no surprise he stayed in rugby but a little surprising he didn't get a contract with a nz club. i don't believe he can play for the all blacks if he's playing overseas. new zealand is to union what brazil is to soccer. either he didn't think he could crack an all blacks spot or it's partly about lifestyle. fair enough. good luck to him.

could have been a good replacement for marky if he returns to union but that won't happen now

I personally don’t think Manu would be close to the ABs squad so decided to take the extra money and lifestyle overseas
Will now see Japan and France - Europe
French comp finishes in June so could be a mid 2027 season option if Marky went in 2027 for the RWC

Seems an odd move. The only reason you go to Japan or French Rugby is money.
Not the best move if you eventually want to return to the NRL. 3 years playing boring Holiday Rugby will make it difficult for him to return to the NRL.

He'll become homesick before his end of contract and return to the chookpen to finish his career.
Barring major injuries between now and then im hoping he holds up well and prolongs his career.
