  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Tigers

I often count my blessings that I was born into a Roosters family. The alternative, supporting the Tigers — the undisputed basket case of the NRL.

Today’s clash should be a formality. Yes, we’re a little understrength, but compared to them, we’ve still got a proper football side.

All games are worth two points, but this is one we simply can’t afford to look back on thinking “if only.” We need to be ruthless. No mercy. Put a score on these battlers and keep the momentum rolling.

Origin’s nearly done. The run home is coming. It’s time to get serious and finish as high up the ladder as we can.

Will be great to see the tribute to the 1975 premiership winning team today. My mother’s first cousin will be amongst them.

    Let’s go Roosters!

I dunno, but this could end in tears.
You see, because of the time slot, I'm watching the game live.
Nerves will be tested and drink o'clock will come slightly early.

I'm worried about the evil game manager.

Thanks 13 for these game day threads. Who’s your mums cousin in the 75 side?

I hate coming up against a team just as the media has jumped all over them and the coach - they will be motivated today and we are weakened all over the park now - hopefully we can overcome that with some back to basics hard footy with a bit of individual brilliance from Teddy and Marky thrown in.

This one sets up well for Sandons running game to shine through the middle.

Hard to see where points will come from for a rudderless Tigers. Without both Luai and Api they will be a complete rabble. We should lap them.

Mark Cohen. He played 2 games on the wing in 1975.

we really need to grind this out. defend well and don't play like millionaires in attack. who knows what the tigers will come up with but we need to give them nothing.

yeah, great to see the '75 team honoured. they'll be accompanied by the ghosts of all the roosters who played at the old sports ground and the spirit of those of us who supported the greatest team of all time as kids

Need to, and really should put this one in the bank.

I see in an article May is looking to ‘Prove to them why they got rid of me was stupid’. While May was quite complimentary of the Roosters, I am sure we have a few young forwards who are equally committed to proving that Roosters hierarchy made the right call. Its been super impressive the way all debutants have come into the side ready to roll , hopefully more of that today.

Great to see the 75 Premiers celebrated today. While also born into a Roosters family, it was watching the 75 Grand Final as a seven year old that really sparked my love of footy and the Roosters. I thought those guys were actual Superhero's.

                Up the Mighty Roosters!

I don’t think the Tigers will be as bad as everyone makes out and it will be a tough assignment for our inexperienced guys. With all the outs, our defensive structures will be tested and we’ll need to at least hold our own in the middle if are to win this one. Roosters by 4.

We have 9 of our top 13 out. 70% of the team.

Actually 10 out. Billy, Rads, Nat, Wong, Sammy plus the fab 5.

They have three of their best out.

Not overly confident. We have enough quality around the team to win.

I googled him, they won both of those games he played, against Cronulla and Manly. So he has a 100% winning strike rate for the club.

The other 3/4's he was competing with for spots that year were Fairfax, Shubert, Brass, Harris, Pickett, and Mullins. Not bad company.

Hope it's a great day for your family.
