  • Naufahu Whyte extends with Roosters

The Sydney Roosters are thrilled to announce that forward Naufahu Whyte has signed a three-year extension, securing his place with the Tricolours until at least the end of 2029.

Since making his NRL debut with the Club in 2021, 23-year-old Whyte has progressed to become an integral part of the Roosters' forward pack.

Roosters Head Coach, Trent Robinson, praised Whyte’s development and character.

“Fahu is a competitor with a deep hunger to improve, and he has worked incredibly hard to earn his standing in our squad. He’s a player you love coaching because he gives everything to the team, and he's also a genuinely good person, so it’s great to have him locked in as part of our long-term plans,” said Robinson.

Whyte, who has made 46 first-grade appearances to date, spoke about his excitement at extending his arrangement with the Foundation Club.

“The Roosters have been my home since I moved over from Auckland as a teenager,” said Whyte.

“It’s a blessing to be part of this Club and an honour every time I pull on the jersey. I’m grateful that this is where I will continue to grow my game and I’m excited to keep learning from Trent, working hard alongside my brothers, and building something special together,” he added.

      Amazing news
finally some retention going in the right direction
let’s hope it’s a big upgrade - is say $700-$800k and far more worth it then Collins and Leniu

I Bellieve he will be our forward leader for the next decade

and hopefully takes the next crop of young pac islander front rowers coming through under his wing

Excellent news! Next up Marky Mark?

Makes me wonder whether this is the sorta thing that Robbo offloaded Young and Brandon early for.

Robbo copped shyte for his stance on looking after Easts juniors but our pipeline of players is now looking pretty sweet!!! Couldn't have imagined this pre-season.

In marathon lingo it feels like we've banked a solid negative split for the first half of the season. Only 4 more Parkruns to go now boys!!!

Still only 23. Plays a lot older than his age.
He has found his spot at front row.
              Great signing.

Absolutely excellent. ‘Fahu is a superstar in the making. Our pack could be the best in the game in another 2 years.

Not to put pressure on this kid but by god he could be the best front rower in the competition within a couple of years. Such a modern day athlete in that position.

Fantastic. Would have been a Bears target for sure. Remember watching him play for the Bears and, although he never starred, always thought he had something. His improvement is a great example of what a little patience and perseverance can yield. Now one of the top front rowers in the game. Loved his commentary in the grab too, sounds a lovely bloke.

for a club that doesn't do long contracts this is a sign of how highly we think of him. rightly so
