Woodsys little dig at Billy Slater appears blown way out of proportion.

How can we go from calling someone a 'grub' somewhat playfully in broadcast, to a bloke almost in tears in response at a presser?

How fragile and soft have we become? Billy was an outstanding player, good analyst and likely a decent Coach...but wtf?

He may be all those things, but Woods was absolutely right, Billy was a 1st class grub on the field. He was suspended for 13 weeks, but that probably should have been double given the leniency he enjoyed. I learned a new term on here this week; crybully; fits the bill perfectly for Slater.

I’m not sure being a sook will motivate his players tonight; they must have lost some respect for him and to bring up Paul Green’s suicide in relation to the stress of coaching is unforgivable. He is coach for three games a year FFS and gets paid a shitload of cash for the privilege. Get a job in the real world on an average wage, then you’ll know what stress is. Can’t take the heat Billy, then time for you to move on.

I think Billy's response was disproportionate to the comments and the the intent behind them.

But on a human level I can also understand that Billy is in an extreme pressure cooker and everything is heightened when you're in that situation. There isn't a coach in the game who hasn't had an emotional overreaction in a press conference before. We are all flawed humans.

Woods did nothing wrong as far as I'm concerned though.

This may have helped QLD had they've been playing game 2 at Suncorp.

Bringing Paul Green into the conversation was poor form imo! A classless attempt to add weight to his dig at Aaron Woods.

Thanks for saying so eloquently exactly what I was thinking.

Take some cement pills Billy. This just gives incentive to New South Wales to smash them tonight and for Queensland to get rid of that little sissy.

Bringing up Paul Green was a disgrace. Billy showed his true colours. Cry me a river ya little Redneck Bogan.

              Go Blues!

It was a mistake for Slater to reference Paul Green, but he has properly and genuinely apologised to Amanda Greene and so deserves credit for that.

I think he’s realised what a low blow it was since he’s now come out and apologised. Also, the fact still remains he was a grub as a player.

Billy Slater was a grub on the field.

I'm still sh!tty that Slater was exonerated and allowed to play in the 2018 GF.

True but his playing made our win all the sweeter. And the Billy's a wanker chant from the crowd that could be heard by him in the dressing room was gold !

You hear so many bullshit half assed apologies nowadays. But his wasn't one. I dislike him almost as much as anyone on here, except for maybe 13, but I heard what he said when he apologised publicly, and he is genuinely sorry and properly remorseful.

That said, who's to say the whole thing won't energise Qld tonight?

seems like billy's feeling the pressure. apart from game 1 last year qld haven't come close in the last two seasons. to lose two straight series would hit hard
