So we went from potentially signing Lockyer to actually signing Anasta, far out what a downgrade.

Lockyer still one of the best natural footy players the game has ever seen. Would’ve been some sustained success instead of falling off a cliff after Freddie left. Oh well can’t win them all. Imagine if he left, the Broncs would be looking at an even bigger premiership drought.

Werent we meant to get Thurston aswell in 2005 after he left the Dogs? Story goes that Sticky thought he was too small and loose to be a good first grader. It could be rumours idk.

I think that particular contract was around 2011/2012 but let's be real he would've been on a lower contract with the Broncos getting topped up by the Thoroughbreds since the very early 2000s.

signing locky in 2005 would have been huge but sounds like it was never a done deal like the signing of bennett was. those kind of close things are probably much more common than we know

I remember there was talk Lockyer was being chased by East’s and Manly but then the Superleague war broke out.
I don’t know if we offered the same sort of coin but I would think the News Ltd backed Broncos would have offered him a blank cheque to keep him.
