Easts are finally in the top 8!!!!

They now need to beat (slaughter) the Cowboys next week to ensure they stay there.

Two teams are only 1 point behind them (both with winnable games). There's another two teams just 2 points behind them, one of which has a superior F&A and both have byes on the weekend. If Easts lose, it's straight back out of the top 8 they go.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

It's nice being in the top 8.

Let's stay there and then go on to win it.

at the start of the season i would have taken being in 8th spot at this stage of the season in a heartbeat. we've been making too many unforced errors to be confident that we'll stay there but it's in our hands now

Yep this week they will give the opposition 7 penalties and or 6 agains on tackle 5 as opposed to the 5 or so last week

I'm sure they'll remedy the situation in the usual fashion.

If we are any chance of playing finals football, we need to win the next 3 games. It would be good to see our for and against move into the positive this week.

Yup we’ve got a horribly out of form Cows impacted by Origin into a bye into a poor Tigers side without Luai. 6pts on the board is vital for our Top 8 chances. The comp is so close this year and we’ve already thrown away 2-3 games. Can’t afford to lose any more of these 50/50s. By hook or crook we need a win this weekend.

I said last week that we'll bank 10 points in a row (with 4 of them being from the Bye). Should we do that, I think we'll be quite likely to make the 8, and probably only need to go 50-50 in the remaining games, or close to that.

I think we're deservingly in the 8 as well. I don't think any team beneath us has played better this year, and feel we may be better than a team or two above us as well. It has been a strangely successful year so far, all things considered.

                            They don't need to.

We've won 1 penalty count all season. It's been a similar pattern for almost 2 decades.

I was shocked that Wong's try got the green light, and we actually got a few calls late in the game. We just expect to lose the penalty count regardless of who's refereeing.
