We're the ones who identified his talent from the Central Coast, the guy who identified him at Canberra when he was already under the watchful eyes of NRL clubs didn't do anything special.

I’m not disputing the fact we identified him from the Central Coast,but I also give a lot of credit to Canberra for identifying him from our lower grades when not many people would’ve heard of him..

Ricky has a problem with almost everyone from other clubs, media, referees, NRL administration etc, but he seems to particularly dislike Robbo. Robbo doesn't seem to be too keen on him either. I can't remember if it goes back to before 2019 GF. He even had the shits with other clubs talking to Jamal Fogarty even though Raiders didn't take up their option to extend him beyond this year, so he was looking for a new contract.

Coach Graham Murray was the link.
They established a connection from when Murray coached in the ESL.

Sadly after a fab season in 2000, Murray got the flick in 2001 and Gus' then mate Ricky was handed the role in 2002.

Rock in a hard place as I seem to be in the minority of Easts fans that still likes Ricky. Champions player and still won a comp with us as coach. I do agree he’s a bitter man at times and I don’t agree with a lot of what he says but I like how he stands up for what he thinks is right.

He should probably be more grateful to our club though as he hasn’t won anything since then. It’s only the 3 GFs in a row back in the early 2000s and probably his legendary playing career that has kept him employed all these years.

Should win a minor premiership this year though, they have a cakewalk of a draw and have been consistent without being amazing this season so good for them. Can’t see them doing anything in finals though when the whips get cracking.
