Good to see the club still being aggressive in their investment into pathways after the news of Ziggy's departure.

In the era of the salary cap, being able to spot the best young talent and value for money signings is one of the few true competitive advantages a club can have.

The quip from the newspaper in the OP makes it seem like there's a Robbo v Stuart feud, I know they trade barbs here and there but I didn't think there was anything too deep but apparently there is?
I like him too. Can’t help but admire the passion and is there a more entertaining character in the game?

If he was responsible for identifying Ethan Strange,Ethan Samders,Mathew Timoko and the winger Tamale from the Dragons then we are on a winner..

          Good times ahead..

Of course I want the chooks to win the comp , but a warriors vs raiders gf would be a nice change .

I think this could be a good signing .

              Flame away.
I agree Matty . Ricky can be a sook but he’s man enough to call out the wankers and there’s plenty of them . The Raiders are where they are through what has been probably the best recruitment in the game and the Roosters obviously recognised this and went after the man responsible. This could be our best signing in a long time

The story just another tabloid spin. The word poached is fried. The journo no Gore Vidal. Secured a better choice. Besides the recruiter likely wanted out from the nations capital and Ricky’s world.

Canberra Raiders left 'fuming' after key figure leaves Ricky Stuart to sign with Roosters

Canberra's astute recruitment has been a key part of their recent success.

Canberra Raiders officials and coach Ricky Stuart have reportedly been left 'fuming' after a poaching raid by NRL rivals the Sydney Roosters. The Sydney Morning Herald reported over the weekend that Trent Robinson's Roosters have moved to sign Canberra recruitment man Joel Carbone, and it hasn't gone down well with the club.

The Raiders have been one of the biggest success stories of the season and currently sit second on the ladder, just two points off competition frontrunners Canterbury. That's despite Canberra being afforded one less bye than the Dogs and the third-placed Warriors, and two less than fellow top-four rivals Melbourne, who have already had three byes.

Carbone has been integral to Stuart's rebuild at Canberra and the club's astute recruitment has been a key part of their recent success. The SMH report says it's "well known there is already tension between the clubs at coaching level" and the Roosters' move to poach one of Stuart's trusted staffers at Canberra will only add to the situation.

Stuart and Robinson's history as rival coaches dates back before 2019 and the recruitment of talented juniors and development of local talent is central to both clubs' strategies. The Tri Colours are more prone to splashing the cash on big-money additions but both clubs also tend to avoid dealing with clients under controversial player manager Isaac Moses, meaning they'll likely be competing for similar signings in The Roosters lost recruitment guru Clint Zammit to a mid-season move to the Cowboys for family reasons. That could have major ramifications for the Roosters' attempts to lure Newcastle superstar Kalyn Ponga to the club. The pair worked together at both the Knights and Cowboys and Zammit was responsible for recruiting Ponga to North Queensland in 2013. But They've moved swiftly to replace their recruitment man with Canberra's Carbone.

Raiders reeling as recruitment guru jumps ship

The Raiders will no doubt be concerned that Carbone's intimate knowledge of the team's roster could leave them vulnerable to further poaching raids by the Roosters. The likes of young guns Ethan Strange, Owen Pattie, Chevy Stewart and Ethan Sanders have developed brilliantly under Stuart in Canberra and the Raiders will be desperate to hang onto them long-term.
