  • 2025 Under 19’s State of Origin

Congratulations to Toby Rodwell, Jaxson Allen & Kanaan Magele who have all been named in the the NSW Under 19’s squad for next Thursday’s game. No official 1-17 team list yet but I will post once it’s been named.

Very surprised that Darcy Smith & Itula Seve weren’t named but they also are still first year in under 19’s and eligible again next year so maybe they just don’t consider them. Darcy Smith captained the Under 18’s city team Vs Country and was named man of the match so would’ve thought he’d be named.

No Roosters named in the Queensland squad, again Lui Lee still eligible for Under 18’s still so may not have been considered.

For those interested the game will be on Channel 9 & Kayo live next Thursday 7:45PM kick off.

Found this today about Darcy Smith.
Another promising and sought after young buck who has come through our pathways.

When I was talking to Daniel Anderson a couple of weeks ago at the NSW Cup game I said to him that I had spoken to Itula Seve & I said to him wasn't Itula going to quit football & he said thats still ongoing.

Not sure that selectors would be thinking a player will play SG Ball again next year so don't select them this year for NSW or QLD under 19's

Darcy Smith is the only real surprise seeing him play from Andrew Johns level plus his SG Ball Season and player of the match in the under 18's City vs Country game- Be hard to keep him as a host of clubs are wanting to sign him.

I dare say Lachlan Dooner would have been a chance as well except for his injury - Another the Roosters need to keep.

Toby Rodwell - Organising halfback but also has great footwork which makes him a big run threat. Expect he will be the 7 when teams are named.

Jaxson Allen - Was the captain of the SG Ball side, he's a very creative dummy half, lots of speed so you'll see him scoot out of dummy half often and for a little guy he's got a lot of mongrel and loves a big hit. Expect he will start at dummy half.

Kanaan Magele - Young prop forward who has a really high work rate and good endurance. Was a a mainstay for Boyd Cordner in the front row this SG Ball season amongst some of the most promising front row talent around.

Yeh it's a real shame he's not playing but he had a nice linebreak in the jersey flegg game on the weekend to set up one of the tries so I'm sure we will see plenty more from him this year.

You're probably thinking of Fanafou his brother who gave the game away earlier this year.

Fanafou has come back since and been really good in the Jersey Flegg comp, the fact he hasn't been promoted to NSW Cup despite the lack of middle forward options and the club constantly digging into the Ron Massey cup on multiple occasions suggests like you say it's still an ongoing situation. Hopefully he sticks with it because he's a serious talent.

Itula, however he seems a lot more committed having signed a 3 year extension already this season through to 2028.
