  • Time for tough love.

After that game against Manly I though its unlikely it can get much worst; on reflection it can.

Rarely, in either life or football, are things black and white. Many sides to each story so to speak. I think the reason it has finally got to me is that there is an incredible amount of contradiction in the team strategy at the moment.

The Roosters are on the cusp of needing some decisive action otherwise it will all demise into the flotsam and jetsam that we all know it can.

Given our current rooster roster we are either still trying to get in the 8 (good luck with that!) or at a stage of re-building. The trying to do both has to stop because it results in us doing neither.

If we are re-building then re-build and make the required decisions. Yes, you will lose games but you will fast-track progress.

Bite the bullet Brian and select a team that will help you build a future. How? Simple..

    1. Anyone leaving the club at the end of the year no longer gets picked in FG including (especially) Anasta, Mitchell and Perrett. They are taking up space that will develop players that will be here longer. Invest in the assets you have rather than trying to claw back a return.

    2. Develop a sensible rotation policy that will expose a number of potentials early. EG if Sammy is going then try Toupu, Henry, Alofa, RTS and whoever else is in the mix to see who is the most likely performer.

    3. Mini must go to the wing to provide some experience to the side but to get him as far away as possible from any play making role.

    4. Rotate Mortimer with Killer, BJ, Littlejohn or even Taka at 6. Their job it to get the ball out and organise backline movements - fullstop.

    5. Give Dumbrell a go !

    6. Introduce toughness to our forward pack. Give Brosden, Napa, Evans, Lui a go at FG ,one at a time. Make them hungry and competitive to get a go.

This is all very basic stuff that I know Smith is more than capable of managing. Just bit the friggin' bullet and do it!

      Good post mate

completely agree. We should be fully focused on next season at this point, give the kids a go- it's not like we can play any worse as it is.

          good read.
i also believe to give a guy one position to play each week not to mix it up so much. maub second row the centre left then right centre. bj wing left centre then right wing. jwh forward then second row. taka almost 5/8 some games then centre , then second row.

the rotation of players like suggested will work and almost did work for us but smiff didnt understand why he was doing it. ant mitch with friend worked, but should of been with morts on when antmitch was on and our mate braith with jake. that way braiths ineptitudes would have been exposed more obviously.

give moga a run in the centres and only that(let him develope a trade). a wing has a different role to a centre. a second rower has more in common with a centres role than the winger.

have the balls to drop players when they dont perform and have a replacement ready in the wings to jump on it
          1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020
