  • Benny or Sandon at #14

Assuming that Hugo will partner Sammy in the halves next game the call has to be made on where Sandon fits into the team.
For me Benny has done enough to date and is more of a specialised DH than Sandon. Sandon obviously offers more in a halves back-up capacity but is that worth the #14 jumper.
Not discounting ZDC as he has also played fairly well and can play long minutes.
If Sandon plays #6 then I can't see a spot for Hugo on the bench.

    Big call by the coach.

Assuming Watson plays Origin I'd go with

    6. Hugo
    7. Sammy
    9. Benny
    14. Sandon

I don't rate Sandon at 6 however he can be quite effective coming off the bench and playing dummy half.

It will 100% be Sandon, and should be.

It's a pleasant headache for Robbo, plenty of talent at his disposal. As much as I like Benny, Sandon has the runs on the board.

ZDC may have played his last game for us. Roosters offered a release a few weeks ago and then prioritised Benny.

          Knights game:
          9 Benny
          14 Sandon

          Beyond SOO:
          9 Watson
          14 Sandon

Next year is the interesting one. Assuming DCE comes, then one possibility is Watson starting at lock to accommodate Savala at 14. I expect Sandon to be offered a release.

Personally for me I'd take both Benny and ZDC over Sandon Smith in the bench utility spot. Sandon misses heaps of tackles a game, imagine putting him in the middle of the field at hooker with his track record...

Depends on what the coach is looking for I guess.

If he wants a strong defender to plug the middle and provide crisp dummy half service; either ZDC or Benny will do the job. I’d prefer Benny to build his experience.

If he wants coverage of more positions, particularly the halves, with more attacking prowess, then Sandon’s his man.

It will be an interesting call.

I think Watson provides the coverage for halves injuries. I’d rather a more solid dummy half. I’d go with Benny.

Benny, Watto can move to 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 13 or 10 should he need to through injury

Benny imo. He looks like a player. ZDC has been excellent in his opportunities this year.

I think Robbo will stick with Sammy & Sandon
                      14 not sure

with Sandon gone next year should look to the future
Sandon does cover halves and hooker but long term Benny the option

They need to stick with Hugo and Sandon as Sam needs to bide his time in his comeback - playing 1/2 a game in reggies is no dress rehearsal in playing NRL for 80 minutes.

I would not be surprised if the Hugo and Sandon is the best half pairings as they do have a history of playing together from Junior Rep days.

Sam could well be the next released or moved on - If Dom Young was a high value signing and the club went all out to sign him and now moved him on why not Sam Walker as well especially if they sign DCE.

I cannot see how a DCE/Sam Walker combo will work - A chalk and cheese combo

I would say Hugo's progression in the NRL space has even surprised Coach Robinson

You are kidding yourself if you think Sammy won’t be straight back into the NRL #7 against Newcastle, assuming he comes through this weekend unscathed.

You are delusional if you think he will be released.
