I define top shelf players as players who: perform consistently at a high standard /or/ have proven records/performances at a representative level /or/ have the ability and skill to single-handedly win matches

unfortunately, i couldn't say with any confidence that we have any of such players.
Minichiello obviously was in that category half a decade ago

        No one.
        Pearce comes close.
SKD is injured all the time.
        Mini is shithouse.
Maloney is there next year though.
Maybe SBW if hes dumb enough to come over here.

Within 3 seasons we will have the following players who will be our 'big names'.

            RTS
            Moga
Cordner - who is showing incredibly good signs of late
            Maloney
            JWH
            Kennedy/Evans
            SKD
            BJ

and you can argue Pearce and Friend will be more consistent and also, FPN on his days is as damaging as any strike forward in the comp.

I say we are in a pretty good position to be honest. If we are in the same position in 2 years time you can start complaining, but for now, just go with it.

mate if ism classes kite as a top shelf player 'still hanging around' then surely minichiello can be classed in the same calibre.
kite never won a golden boot

SKD is certainly as good or better than some players on ism's list and arguably Pearce is too.

2 years ago we were in a grand final!! - How are we in a good position - 3rd last!!! Whats happened since the 2010 GF is a disgrace and is systematic of pathetic administration of our club. I accept some things may have been outside of management's control but bloody hell, on the field we have generally been a rabble - even when we win. When was the last time we actually flogged a team?

Waiting for another year or two for "success" is unacceptable & anyone who thinks SBW is going to be the saviour (on a reported 1 year deal) is in la la land.

BC, two words that no-one likes hearing.

                      Todd Carney.

2010 was based a lot on his talents.

Toddy was great, but we weren't a 1 man team. The boys were there for each other and with belief and confidence we won games. With a few good results we can do that again. We also need to stop the poor decisions having such a negative effect. Some experience will get us there.

I think Maloney will be great for us, I find he has a good kicking game and a great running game which we are lacking at 5/8th, I think as we saw in 2010 a good 5/8th will really take the pressure of Pearce. We do need some outside backs, we got the need for speed.

Maloney will make a huge difference, he has THE one thing that we lack now ... he is a smart footballer. He brings vision and a good short kicking game, as well as being a good ball runner and support player. In short, he is the Anti-Braith.

[QUOTE=ism22;224299]Not all the stars, but I'm thinking of big name players and their clubs.

                              Cowboys:
                              - JT
                              - Bowen
                              - Tate
                              - Scott
                              - Tamou
                              - T Sims
                              - Taumalolo

                              QUOTE]

There fixed the Cowboys up for you.

Get rid of Matai, Boyd (yes, one good game for the Knights means SFA) Tahu (see Boyd) Tuqiri, Soward, Young, Coote, and Idris, because I can almost guarantee if they were playing for us, and playing the way they are currently, they would be ridiculed week in, week out..and rightly so!
And I don't see how you can rate these players better than every single of our bunch.
