I think it's a top 4 spine but there is better out there and that is where we've always struggled, last year we had a top 4 spine as well but when the team came up against premier sides with premier spines it became a problem for us.

I think we will win in 2026, an extra year for the young players and the addition of key spine players will make us very hard to stop.
Agree 100% All our young brigade need this full year under there belts before we make a tilt for the 2026 premiership , playing finals football is a completely different game, the experience they would gain from these game will setup the side to challenge for the number spot in 2026.( plus the new signing that will arriving next year,I still think we will be one good hard frontrower short.)

Yeah it's open and Melb can get done like the sharkies rolled them.

The Dogs might fade with some in that tight group pissed that Galvins coming. Their season can go south.

I just want us in the 8 so the young guys get some finals experience.

We are 2/4 against the Riff and Drongos, plus we haven't played Melbourne as yet, so it's hard to gauge where we're at compared to the elite teams.
My concern from the first 12 rounds has been our inability to ice games. 4/6 losses this year have been games that we should have won, after leading at the 60th minute mark.
It's a long season, so IMO let's start stringing some b2b2b2b wins together before we can consider ourselves genuine chances.

The main ingredients for winning the competition are talent, youth and toughness.
Look at the premiership dynasties Souths(yuck) 1967, Roosters 1974 with Fairfax, MacKay, O’Reilly, Schubert,
            Parramatta 1981, Raiders 1989 , Roosters 2018 and Riff 2021.
If our current team is capable of beating the Raiders this weekend I think they will show they are tough enough to beat any team.
They have already shown they have talent to score points.
Call me an optimist, but I don’t think the boys are out there thinking we make up the numbers.
I don’t think our coach does either.
Remember our motto - “We play for premierships”

Like I said when everyone was writing us off (which I also almost did after Round 1), we have the talent to make a run at the 8 and to make a dent in the finals. Errors are still our bane, and last weeks win, although a lot better, still had fans throwing their arms in the air. Fortunately, they righted the ship and held on for a great win, and even put on some more tries.

Once the 2nd half errors are fixed (including the bombing of tries with stupid passes), they certainly have the ability to beat anyone.

Weirdly, I'm not a fan of a DCE signing, but I do think if he were to come mid-season that could be the X-factor that might put us in the frame to actually WIN a miracle premiership this year.

I rate this squad highly, love watching them play, and reckon they'll surprise heaps of people and go deep into the finals. And I agree that the season could be there for the taking.

But making a GF, if we somehow pull that off, is one thing.

It's very different to having the stones and brains to go one and win one on the day.

I don't think our current halves could do that in 2025. Even with Walker.

                So no to DCE.

                And yes to DCE.

i'm slightly against signing dce but there could be an upside.

We still have to play the Raiders once, Sharks Souths and Bulldogs again and Storm twice as well as Knights and Tigers without Origin players. If we can win more than half of those games we can make the top 8 and then who knows. Its 50/50 whether we make the 8 at this stage but the win over the Sharks gives me hope

                      Me too.
                      current SOO players
Toia, Collins, Leniu, Watson, Crighton =5
Add Toups, Teddy & Rads (would be a SOO player =3

                      Kiwi international Naufe Whyte
                      Fiji International Siua Wong
                      Wallaby Mark Nawaquanitwasa

So thats 8 SOO players, 8 SOO players what other club has that & 3 Internatinals then you add Billy Smith, Sandon Smith, Hugo, Foketi, Steep,N Butcher, Docker Clay & Losalu & its a pretty good team & on their day we can beat anyone but its just doing it consistently that is the hard part.
If things go the Roosters way on Sunday night we will win

we're 3.25 to make the 8, shortened from 4.00 before the sharks game. those are probably fair odds because we still have a couple of games without our origin players, and who knows how quickly sammy will get up to speed, but with a bit of luck we might make it

... maybe...have to show we can beat our modern day hoodoo team the Storm..Stop losing the unlosable etc. Backline is good.Forwards not bad improving ...If Collins can get his form back we will be on a winner.
