    Exactly.

One year deal is a good idea.
If he turns out to be a flop we can just wave him goodbye at the end of the season.

If on the other hand he likes us, has been playing well, and wants to stay, we can negotiate a new contract.

Role model? You first need respect and after what he did to the game of rugby league, I hope hes not held up as an example to the younger guys. I cannot respect what he did.

The Tele today is reporting that SBW wants to play in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and the NZRU CEO is quoted as saying that they will welcome him back for it

Any league show appears to be a short stint

so we get $bw for the 2013 season. ,lets say he goes great gunns and we have a 3rd party payment going his way so we dont lose all our youth policy players.
if we win the gf (lets say) he will demand way more cash for the following year....if we finish the 2013 higher than 2012 he will want more cash (look what i brought to the club). but if injuries accure he will leave us. so if $bw has a 1 year deal and he absolutly shines as the best thing in league his price for the 2014 season will be out of our reach of us and someone like the drongos, merge or some other cashed up team can captolize on his form and ability. so we will lose out completely. lose our future stars, be accused of buying a gf or just be known as the transit lounge

well if hes the reason that we go from 3rd last to winning the gf then he has every god damn right to ask for more money.

from what iv heard, the sbw contract is for one year with a one or two year option which he can choose to exercise.

Also SBW agreed to the contract (verbal/ hanshake) agreement sometime during last year before the rugby world cup, as he was not happy with the treatment he was getting from the nz rugby board and didnt get along with the coach graham henry.. he was tired of being overlooked for the starting squad and felt he was being wasted on the bench, thats why he decided to come back to league.

however, with the change of coach, and a starting position his preference would be to stay with the all blacks and in rugby, but he apparently has developed a really good relationship with uncle nick and wants to keep his word. (plus take his money). so the length of the contract is exactly what the reports say, its not so he can decide to jump ship to another club, its so he can make his return to rugby at the end of the 2013/ 2014 season for the world cup defence.

And the year after??? You are kidding yourself. We got to a Gf and like every other big game he has played in bar one, he failed miserably.

Can`t re-call too many in Canberra...

I can't see a bloke who intends skipping pre-season so he can make money in yawnion and wants to visit South Africa to fight during the season so he can make more money is a good role model for any young league player to follow.

Personally, I reckon it oozes of lack of focus and commitment to the Roosters and the game of rugby league. And that's not traits we should be encouraging in our young blokes.

What it really does is show commitment to discipline as you require a hell of a lot of it for that schedule..

Showing commitment to sport and being an elite athlete is the best trait to show "our young blokes"

besides, during the season could be during the bye within the season..

What would you rather have? A bunch of piss pots in their spare time and playing like busted A holes game time?
