  • Metres Gained - Where did it go wrong ?

From yesterdays game - the Roosters made 1188 metres with Manly making 1195. A difference of only 7 Metres.

? Why was the scoreboard so different for us.

When i look at the forward packs of both sides, and look at Metres per minute played. (i think this is a good indication) our forwards actually made 8 more metres and ave 1.44 metres per minute played. (Best = Mose 4.24 metres, Tom Symonds 2.80, Worst (ignoring hookers) Martin kennedy 0.41 , & Boyd 1.10).

So our guys did the same amount of work, but were caned on the scoreboard.

Rooster_6 - i would appreciate your feedback on this.

    Cheers

You should know by now what the response will be.

Stats don't tell the whole story so our forwards were actually dominated. Unless we are talking about Pearce, then stats tell the whole story and because he has more offloads than DCE he's clearly a better player.

I'll tell you where it went wrong, when we ran on.

Maybe if there were stats for when we lost the game in the opening 25min 18-0 it would tell a different story.

The facts with this side will always be the same. We always clock off in matches when it matters most. Either the start or end of both halves, or just simply after penalties and an inability to recover from poor plays

We have no problem making metres and getting into the opposition. When we get there, we have no structure, no set plays, slow backline filled with second rowers and an ageing full back and a lock forward in FPN acting as first receiver

I have no idea what they do at training, but its certainly not practising any plays inside an opposition 20

Definitely. Both our halves also rarely ever link with our backs in the 20m as well. I mean what good are they for then. It seems like when we get to attack all it is is passing to and amongst forwards.... We've had enough of them for the other 80m hitting it up Smith.. we don't need to see more of it f**k

Our forwards are pretty handy, our back line is rubbish.

That's been pretty clear for a while.

                      Outplayed.
Look at our roster compaed to theirs.
They stepped us, offloaded more, kicked more, were too fast for us. Our gameplan wasnt creative. We mus play the power game we did against the Tiges. Not side to side. We passed the ball ou forwads ran into a brick wall of Manly defense then just kicked to the fullback/winger. They chipped kicked stepped us linebreaked everything.................and people say we dont need to buy players. We have no gamneplan or structure thats the problem ad-lib doesnt work also poor execution. No one was really lifting. Teams like Panthers and Eels beat the Manly just because one player lifted eels had Hayne and Penrit had Lewis. We had well no one all Pearce did was 2 nice cut-out passes.

2-Half of our players are paying with no Brains stuipid offloads that dont stick and unable to comlete a set.

Just a better coached team with a better roster. Any team that can boast Lyon, Stewart, DCE, Foran, Watmough, Ballin and Williams let alone the rest is going to be tough to beat for most teams let alone with our squad.

                              Missed tackles:
                              Roosters - 38
                              Manly - 38

                              Errors:
                              Roosters - 13
                              Manly - 9

They are relatively equal and don't account for the massive 38 point difference

As i said before, the timing of the errors and missed tackles is what constantly puts us out of matches, and is the source of frustration.

-A plethora of missed tackles at the start of the match on our own goal defensive line leading to trys is what kills us
-Dropping the ball at crucial times when we're right in the zone and trying to score /or catch up is what kills us

And it's because of that, that we need composure from our leaders at crucial times... we don't have any composure in attack or defence.
