We need an experienced half, if we didn't take DCE then the money would go to either Cody Walker (I'm sure that'd go down really well) or Jackson Hastings. I agree we lack composure and experience in the halves. I think Hugo has the composure we need but obviously not the experience. But I equally think DCE at his age is too big a risk. What’s the bet his body actually breaks down when he starts training with us? I remember Chad Townsend saying about his first Roosters training session that it was the most intense training session he’s experienced in all his years of the NRL. DCE has already slowed down. PVL NRL is a fast young man’s game. This is why the Riff won 4 straight. It’s why the faiders are leading the comp. It’s why our young guns have adapted quickly when given opportunities this season. If we sign DCE, which is looking pretty likely, of course I will support him. I’m a Robbo fan and get in trouble for defending him all the time. But I think it’s a very high risk signing and I’d rather put effort into the young halves we already have. Hugo or Rodwell could be our future DCE. I just hope Robbo’s made the right call because as I said I’m a huge fan of his and if it all goes pear shaped, just wait for the Robbo bashing to intensify here. Then I’ll be torn because I’ll have to reluctantly join in. I also hated the Cheese signing FWIW. Come to think of it, I was against Cronk too lol. Interesting dynamic this week. DCE between a rock and a hard place. If he plays a starring role for Manly and they beat and effectively end our season, his new fans will be bitter against (even more than usual).
If we beat Manly and DCE is quiet he’ll get abused and branded washed up and a mistake of a signing by our fans. Damned if he does damned if he doesn’t haha.Comment
