Nah mate Sam has said he’s going to play a few games of NSW Cup for match fitness and get back up to speed.

My guess would be he comes back for Rd15 after our bye. Will probably play next weeks bye round in Cup, might even feature this week for ressies.

I reckon they just make stuff up at this point.

His wife is from Sydney, his kids are born and raised in Sydney and he himself has been based in Sydney since he was around 16. The mythical draw of Queensland and homesickness is a myth. They use it for Sam Walker whenever it’s in vogue to talk about his contract in the media.

I always chuckle. It’s an hour flight away but they make it seem like it’s across the other side of the world. DCE has indicated he wants to stay in Sydney. Phins makes more sense from a footy POV as he can step straight into the halves and it would have a sense of romanticism about it.

I do think he’ll end up here but the one thing that thinks Phins have a glimmer of hope. When he announced the whole thing DCE himself said , wait til this is all over and you will see this has nothing to do with money and everything to do with finishing up on my terms. Maybe not verbatim but something similar… I think signing with his hometown club to mentor Katoa would look more noble and less self serving than signing with the arguably the biggest most powerful club in the league and all the connotations we have in terms of $$. I could be overthinking it though.

It's called fishing and speculation - eventually the media will get something right and then claim to have "inside" info!

              Of course they do.

Just with DCE alone when we got rid of Cheese and probably Young it was because we want to sign DCE before 30th June then everyone went from a 2 year contract to the 1 year bandwagon which makes no sense.

They make it up with every little movement. Even Chammis said that they are paid for clickbait. If it is exaggerated BS more people click.

They rarely get one right with us. But every a broken clock is correct every 720 minutes.

              • DCE - Dolphins
                Sandon - Eels
                Townsend - Raiders
                Nikorima - Cowboys

                Roosters run with Savala/Walker

Makes the most sense, unfortunately this is Rugby League

                  • I hope we haven’t already signed DCE.

He hasn’t been playing well at Manly and I thought it was him not wanting to be there and would come out and have a blinder for Queensland but he was terrible and can’t play the rest of the series.

Our young guys have been brilliant and we can’t afford to lose them, forget about DCE, age has unfortunately caught up with him.

Second best half on the field though.

                      • What kind of drugs do you have to be on to think DCE was best on field in the second half lol

I'm not sure that's true and even if it is it's not saying much.

If he wasn't the captain I reckon he would be under a lot of pressure to hold his position for game 2, that is now 163 minutes of State of origin footy at Suncorp where the only try Qld have scored with him at halfback was a knock on from the Blues close to the line that was picked up and scored on.

I thought the difference in the game was the early ball Cleary & Moses we able to get their edge players to create points.

In particular this play from DCE where Mitchell had already turned inwards, he has Toia on an out line and instead of giving it he threw a half-arsed dummy and ineffective run that lead to nothing. Like that's very basic halfback play, I might understand the conservative play if you're ahead or it's still early minutes. But down by 8 with 20minues to go, you've got to ice that play and give your centre the opportunity there.

                          • Seriously, how can the Roosters still be interested in DCE after the performance he just put in for SOO 1 ?
He offers no running threat , too old, and needs to be put out to pasture.
Slater has to sack him for game 2 , and replace him with Dearden.
And the Roosters shouldn’t touch him- even with a 10 foot pole.

Didn't say he was best on field in the second half I said he was better than Moses and Munster.

I acknowledge that QLD have been terrible in recent years but I'm not so sure that is solely on DCE, as a team they severely lack in plenty of positions across the field and QLD is kind of in the position that NSW was 15 years ago in that they don't have any superstars really coming out of the woodwork to lead QLD to competitive series wins.

I don't know if anyone suitable is available to fill the spots but I'd be moving Holmes, Munster, Cherry-Evans and Collins on at the very least for the 2026 season and replacing them with younger players to try and rebuild the QLD Origin dynasty. Great time to be a Blue though.

You have just said that you would be moving DCE out of the QLD origin side for 2026, however in your last 400 posts you advocate him coming to the Roosters for 2026 and 2027.
Your main argument was always that DCE was so valuable because he played SOO and for Australia, and you keep quoting statistics to justify your view.
Do you really know what you are talking about?
Boot DCE out of Origin, but have him come to our club because he is an SOO player?
All the time saying he is better partner for Walker, and we should dump Savala and Sandon, because they can’t win us a premiership?
                                Are you just confused?
Or do you really support another club, and want to sabotage the Roosters?
