    Medical Update | Round 12

Sydney Roosters Tue 20 May 2025, 09:29 AM

The Sydney Roosters Squad has been assessed following the Club’s Round 11 match against the Bulldogs.

Naufahu Whyte suffered an MCL injury in the late stages of the match, and will undergo further testing in the coming days.

Nat Butcher has returned to squad training and will be pushing for selection this week.

Sam Walker has returned to full, unrestricted training. He will be available for selection in the coming weeks.

De La Salle Va’a is available for selection.

Junior Pauga is continuing rehabilitation for his back injury.

Looks like Sammy is not far away. He may make the Raiders game which he has said was his goal.

DLS back on the field so soon is amazing. I still have high hopes for this guy. If he fulfills his potential, our pack in the near future could be devastating.

That's great news! Sammy's playmaking ability creates 12 plus points a game. We will make the finals if he stays fit!

My other bold prediction is that the Bulldogs won't make the GF. The majority of the team are scrappers! We beat ourselves last round.

I hope Sammy avoids the Raiders game. That was the game that cost us all chances last year losing Sammy and Cheese to ACL's. Grubby team.

Walker would have got us over the line on at least three of our losses this season. Enough to have us in or around the top four strangely enough.

Sammy makes us a more potent team but I’m not sure he solves our issue of making the right decisions in/ and managing close games. He also has his defensive challenges and concedes a lot of penalties.

Before his injury he was starting to dominate games but it’s not uncommon for players to be more tentative returning from such a major injury and Sams strength is trusting his natural footy instincts - so I can see a scenario where people turn on him quickly because he doesn’t dominate again from the jump.

Absolutely! His output comfortably makes up for any deficiencies a young half would normally have.

Sammy will help with our overall performances when he returns but I believe we might have missed the boat for season 2025 already.

We will need to go on a winning streak and turnaround our points differential considerably. I believe the experience some of the young guys this year will put us in a better position for next year.
