Great move by the club. He’s become one of the best front rowers in the game and will be scary good when he hits his peak around his late 20’s.

He'd get it on the open market...no doubt at all.
Comfortable at a good club, in a comfortable area, in comfortable training and playing situations, good coaches...can never be underestimated.
Money isn't everything.
From now on, at our club, a contract must be a contract, and only broken by the club or player in very exceptional circumstances.

For example
2025 - 400k
2026 - 750k
2027 - 750k
2028 - 750k
2029 - 750k
Take 100k off each year of his new contract and give him another 400k this year that we've saved by releasing other players meaning we're only paying him 650k a year which is quite frankly a bargain given the level he's playing at currently.
I know that's over simplified because his contract will have ratchet clauses and wont stay a flat rate but the percentage of salary to salary cap would remain the same so the logic still tracks.

All the speculation by the media and public including the pen on what player is available on the market and their financial worth or the re signing of a player such as Mr Whyte for a certain amount just Chammas Click Bait. What ever the amount it’s none of his business nor is it mine or anybody else for that matter.
NRL journalism, commentary and how the game is manufactured by its media partnership is low rank. The players deserve more and also privacy.

Great result. Love what he is doing for us this year.
I remember listening to an episode of Roosters Radio about 3 years ago where they were interviewing Nick. They asked him about future players to watch our for, and his instant reply was "Naufahu Whyte is going to be a superstar." Uncle knows his footy.

I was annoyed last year when he kept getting put back to nsw cup but can see why - I thought he could have got the 15 backrower replacement over Nat last year

There's nothing stopping us from front loading him this year by releasing players like Brandon Smith, Terell May & Dominic Young. Which Brandon Smith alluded to as the reason the club gave him for why they'd be happy for an early release.

love the ideas
tbh in 2029 Whyte could be worth a lot more then this to the way other front rowers are being paid
