  • Can't use Sam Walker excuse.

A lot of people & including me up until last night think that Sam's return will be some magic potion for improvement & a top 8 finish.

You dont need Walker on the field to get the basics right in not making a mountain of errors or stopping easy side stepping tries through the middle 10m out.

These so called honourable losses are a cop out. There's 4 games that they have let slip which you can't blame on Walker being out or having a young team....you actually have some old heads letting the team down more than the young guys.

This "its a young team" & "it's because Sam's out" excuses have no substance when the basics cant be executed from certain players picked in 1st grade...it's almost like errors & crap completions are part of the Roosters DNA now.

Would love to know in 13yrs under Robbo have we ever not been in the bottom 3 for errors & completions.

Yep, we are good for an error or two or a thousand.

The worst thing about E butcher Brannigan's knock on was that he wasn't even looking at the bloody ball.

If we didn't make so many errors we would have won the game is a fair assumption. There could also be an argument that if Walker played we could have had more opportunities to score a few more tries. When Smith ran 70 meters, we only needed to spread the ball and we score. Walker would have kicked it to Marky Mark's chest.

I don't think we've ever had good completion rates throughout Robbo's coaching. We should have won last night through our defense more than anything

The mountain of errors we had cost us ultimately, but in games like that it is handy to have match winners who can win you games like last nights. Obviously like most on here I would love our team to not make them.

It just drives me nuts to see opposition players step & weave straight through the middle without being touched for tries....& we certainly must be the most error prone team in the last 13yrs.

I'd say we'd win that game with Walker, but he's also good for a rush of blood and an error to be fair. We'll be a lot better with him back, but it won't fix the unforced errors issue.

With better halves we probably win that game, game on the line with 5 minutes to go we probably see Walker stand up and make a game changing play but instead it was Sandon Smith grubber kicking right to the opposition instead.

Granted it isn't just the halves that are causing issues for the side but errors that lead to points are extra hard to come back from when we've got a NSW Cup standard half and a rookie.

We lap them with Walker imo and that's why he's worth $1 million a year and is only 22.

He's our number 1 playmaker! His job is to create scoring opportunities and we were only 1 converted try away from victory.

I'm eager for his return but there seems to be so much pressure on him to be an automatic saviour.

Walker & Hugo is the way to go with Sandon on the bench where he can make a better impact.

Agree about Walker and Hugo as our halves combo.

I guess pressure comes with being a playmaker especially at the Roosters.

                      Thats footy man.
The Roosters do that to other teams.
1st half last night was 9 out of 10 from the Roosters but the 2nd half wasn't quite as good & the Bulldogs who are leading the comp managed to snatch the win.
I dont blame anyone for the loss we lost to the team coming first. They're first because they are the best team so far in 2025. We werent far off. Our current Roosters team with all our rookies is doing pretty good considering all the players that left from 2024.
Most on here including me had us not finishing in the 8 but Ive seen enough of this current Roosters team that I now think we can make the 8. On their day the Roosters are deadly but its not every week. How do you be deadly every week, I dont know man, it either happens or it doesnt

I too have changed my perspective on this season after seeing how impressive they are when they click.

That's why the gift games given away when on top to the Dogs, Rabbits, Titans, Warriors sting.

With Walker back & if everything clicks this team could be a dangerous dark horse.

There’s a fair chance that last night Marky Mark would have only dropped it.

He's been attributed with 6 errors last night. That's horrendous. Not even SKD at his worst made that many mistakes.
