Should we sign Selwyn Cobbo?

I have been thinking it’s strange that Cobbo is not signed for next season.

Would he be a good Toops replacement then possibly moving to fullback once Teddy leaves. He has expressed that FB is his preferred position and obviously Walsh is signed there .

He is definitely talented and a few off seasons to work on his fullback fitness he could be outstanding.

Otherwise we promote REX BASSINGTHWAIGHTE or Mark Nawaqanitawase

Edit: Having watched that Brisbane game maybe we give him a miss.

He's so overweight & when you look at him & Latrell tonight Latrell looks in heaps better shape.

Do people really rate Selwyn Cobbo that highly?

He’s an average winger and a bottom tier fullback for mine. I’m not even sure he would be in the best 17 fullbacks in the comp. Talks of a million dollars per season are wild to me, I just don’t see it.

Cobbo is a second rower playing fullback. Hard to stop when gets some steam up running straight, but in terms of elusive speed and quick through a gap he is nowhere near that and looks disinterested sometimes plus ball handling is an issue. I would rather Teddy at 40 years old than Cobbo. Hes a Jake Turbo clone....If our retention dept are looking at him, there needs to be a serious cleanout.

Only a handful of players could of done what latrell did tonight, when he is on, he is untouchable.

Dont know if Cobbo would enjoy making 20 plus tackles on forwards in a game. Hes def a winger, maybe a centre but not a fullback

I've read Cobbo is looking for 800-900k a season which is high end centre money so unless we plan on moving either Billy Smith or Toia on I don't think we really need him. If he was willing to take considerably less money and play on the wing he could maybe be a replacement for Tupou but nobody is paying him 800-900k to play wing.

seriously , my heart still aches a little over the latrell thing. he is souffs through and through now, but along with teddy, Munster, kp, turbo how many other players can totally and utterly win the game by themselves? that fg was just nonchalant...but I hate the broncos

Yeah, Cobbo could be the man. We nearly had Fafita.
Since Latrell left we have really struggled to find that special player who is overweight and lazy but, but, every 6 weeks or so he delivers something special.
