Did anyone else notice that Young stayed on his man against the Sharks when he should've jammed in allowing their centre to stroll through and score? Trindall nice soft hands.
It’s a worry this year with a lack of outside backs
but certainly going forward it knights are paying a good chunk no use paying $600k for someone not in your best 17
I thought he has an improved yardage game last time around
particularly handy during origin time with toia out atm
I assume we want Young to hang around until Pauga is cleared to play. Otherwise, Young would be gone already with a proviso that he can't play against us.
Such a risky decision in my view to let him leave this year tbh. One of our backs goes down and we are left short (which is very likely given our injury history).

Dom's contract is $450k?
Knights wanted to pay $200k and have us pay $250k?
Trent said, para: "Tell em they're dreamin".
"They asked, so take him and the contract."

Dom just doesn't get it!
Can't have it both ways.
His job is to guard the side line.
He leaves his wing, they pass to their winger, he scores and Dom gets blamed.
Time our defence learnt to get across and stop tries thru the centres.

Could be plenty of sites saying around $600k
but certainly a lot for a player outside the top 17 anyway

It doesn't work like that.
In a 3 v 3 Dom Young needs to stay on his man and in most cases it's the opposition left side winger.
When the opposition has a 3 v 2 overlap, Dom Young needs to leave his man and jam in on the potential ball receiver who becomes the main threat. It's then up to the cover defence to scramble if the ball player throws a cut out to his winger.
We are keeping Dom till we get through the Knights game because the origin players will be missing. Then we save $500,000 a year for the next 2 years. His positional play is poor for a winger but would be a disaster at center or fullback. There are kids playing wing in lower grades that have a better idea. We are well rid of him. His only talent is his speed down the sideline with the ball from about 20m out. he doesn't seem to have any speed at our end or when chasing in defense.

Barry Toohey, Newcastle reporter has confirmed - Knights are paying $160k for him this year, $500k for the next 2yrs after
I also think Dom stayed on his wing against the Sharks because I was 20m away yelling at him constantly in the second half....

I've noticed this in a few games now - he seems to give up the chase when an opposition player makes a break and that's an absolute no-no
we won't have dom to cover for the game v tigers.
if the deal means we don't pay anything beyond this year then it seems sensible enough. knights will be spewing if we beat them and then pip them for a spot in the 8. dom could have been playing for them already
