If he plays every round this year he’ll be on 289 after the last round. If we make the 8 he’ll enter the 290’s. Next year he could comfortably beat Jared’s record.

Yeah if it's for DCE then that's dumb. For now I reckon it's just rumours anyway. I mean maybe the Knights called his manager when he was dumped or were simply asked 'would you take him back' and said 'yes he's a talented player'.

For now he's playing NSW Cup for Easts and his broef's been made pretty clear. If he can't learn how to defend as well as Pauga, Toia and Marky Mark (who aren't even THAT good at defence) then he's gonna have a difficult time justifying his inclusion in the 13.

I can think of a lot of scenarios where he's gonna be back in 1sts. This includes one of our outside backs playing Origin, injuries, suspensions and hey... form!

Sky's the limit for this guy in terms of his attacking game and that's why he's so frigging exciting. We'll see what happens with him as to me the 4yr contract reflects his desire to develop within our systems.

Come to think of it... how's old mate Fi-fi doing in reggies? It's aorta hilarious to think how shyte we might be if we'd signed him and Hunt.

What year was Dale Shearer with us? I don't remember him. I do remember the backline of Andrew Walker, Jack Elsgood, Richie Barnett, Matt Sing, Ivan Cleary that was a fun team.

Mark Nawaqanitawase is so far ahead of Young it's not funny, you can't give Young any early ball he's hopeless all he's good for is finish off a backline play with 30m of space in front of him but we've seen what Marky Mark can do with early ball he can beat his man and also draw in defenders and get good offloads away.

I also wouldn't be surprise if getting rid of Young is to upgrade Mark N he only signed a 2 year deal iirc

Oh my Dom only started playing league at 16 and in 6 years has achieved more than you would ever achieve in a life time in anything. - Tell us all about anything you have ever achieved in your life in any capacity?

Not relevant, King. Dom is, for NRL standard, not a good footballer. We're comparing him to other wingers in the game, not ourselves.

I absolutely hope he goes to another club and kills it. He's good fun to watch, and seems like a nice bloke.
However, he is leagues away from our other backs. He won't even come back in due to form. Our current backs on a bad day are better than him, and it's not just defense. His yardage carries are appalling, and he's also extremely frantic with the ball. I would argue he's also quite ungainly, to be honest.

Much like others here I've enjoyed watching Dom but 650k a season for him when we have two better options it probably does make sense to move him on unfortunately. I guess the Roosters either have faith that the players aren't going to get hurt or alternatively that Pauga and the NSW Cup players will be able to sufficiently cover anything.

On another note, where is all our money going? If Dom goes then it'll be Dom, Brandon Smith, Keary, JWH, Tupounuia, Manu, Suaalii and May gone. All we've signed is Robson, Townsend and Mark N...

                  My thinking is...

                  - Most of the money's for terminating payments so there's no 'saving' when guys like Cheese, Manu, JWH, Keary and Sua'ali'i leave.

                  - Guessing Sitili, May and Townsend are/were on close to minimum wage so they get replaced by whoever else joins the top 30. This could include ZDC, Savala, Steep and that concreting dude.

                  - Big money signings likely include Walker (upgraded to ~$1m I'd say), Robson, Crichton, Young (he's still here) and possibly upgrades to guys like Whyte, Radley, Watson, Butcher...etc (based on their performance).

                  - Some guys will be on middle money and we'll need to set aside a contingency to re-sign them. For example Mark N, Toia, Sandon, Steep, Wong, Whyte...etc. People will be coming after our talent and guys can't always stay around out of loyalty. Heck if Billy Smith stays injury free then I dare say he'll be asking for an upgrade based on form. If you don't, the next guy will!

Certainly a question to be asked
$4m gone from last years talent
another $1.4m now with cheese and young gone
Robson is coming and will replace cheese
A few upgrades like Walker, Watson and Leniu all start in 2026
I predict maybe 1 more signings then more upgrades
over next couple of years Marky m, toia, Billy smith, Wong and Whyte etc

Sitili was on $600k and playing reserve grade so similar situation

I think one positive is the club has made some quick decisions to rectify mistakes
-Keary re signed on $800k and let go months later
let sitili go on $600k playing reserve grade early in 1st or 2nd year of 4 year deal - allthough I still think his best position was off the bench in the middle which the dogs are using him now
let cheese not re sign and sign Robson
let young go again on $600k playing reserve grade early 18 months into 4 year deal

still someone made these recruitment and retention errors but we have made quick decisions to allow them to go

only bad decision to let a player go is you know who - other then that we look to be slowly stepping back the right way

TBH I loved Joey Manu for most of his career at Easts however in 24 he was pretty ordinary. I wouldn’t take him back on 24 form and desire just didn’t seem to be there. Maybe his head was already in 25 but I’m happy with our current centre pairing who are young and have many years left in them with points to prove. I wouldn’t take Joey back on the money we would have to pay him.

If we are signing DCE for 1 year it hardly seems worth upsetting the apple cart. However it would increase our chances of retaining both Sandon and Hugo if it was just a year as opposed to two years.

Leniu was already upgraded to over his worth 800k if you believe the press. He won’t be in line for another upgrade anytime soon. Agree 100% on the others though.

Rubbish post - defending Doms position in first grade by comparing him to a pen poster! Seems you just wanted an avenue for a pot shot at the poster.

Yes but Leniu and other two contract upgrades don’t start to 2026! This year he is still on $500k! Same with Walker and Watson who are upgraded starting 2026
agree though it’s abit high for Leniu
Whyte is the guy we need to and deserved a big contract upgrade
