He scored 22 or so tries in 2024...assisting greatly in getting us to 3rd place in season 2024.

This is all after Manu and Sua'ali'i have left us... which your average punter would assume meant there was a spot available for him.

Curious what our salary cap position would look like if he did leave. Sigh.
What do Watts, Carter or Meehan have to do with anything? He's not a good signing because he is getting shopped around 18 months in to a 4 year deal

It’s not just his defence that is rubbish. His runs from our own end are pathetic. It was so good to have Mark tearing it up for us from the backend last week. Long gone are the days when a winger is just there to score tries. In saying this, Toops also got man handled earlier in his career and had a mistake or two in him. His defensive reads were never as bad though.

And conceded a hell of a lot more. Now he's down in reserve grade where he belongs and won't be playing in our colours again.

Saw him play a couple of good games in reserves this year. He’s put in some bulk.

I think Rodwell would be next in line for backup wing spot nothing flashy about him but would get the job done till the return of the regular first grade wingers ,Tait is more of a Dom mark2 they need to work on the kids defensive structure before his ready to make the step up to first. As someone said earlier Rodwell reminds reminds me of Ikavalu a good backup winger.

What are the odds that Billy, Toia, Marky or Toops get injured if he goes.
Agree...would be not very smart to flick him before June 30th.

We seem to pick up the bulk of our injuries late in the season the last few years.

You cant just bring in a rookie to do a better job if we are in the calculations of a top 8 finish.

This club is so injury prone the last few years that it's almost guaranteed Dom will play 1st's again.

Maybe but I'm still scarred from Sandy Cambpell, Brad Burke, Mick Delroy, Paul Vautin, John Simon, Dale Shearer, Paul Langmack...

Tony Cosatto deserves a special mention hahaha

Though out of that list the biggest let down for me was Brad Burke, was expecting big things from him as a rugby convert but wasn’t to be..

There will always be the odd poor signing unless AI can eventually assist in this department.

I never rated Dom! I could see his deficiency when he played at the nights. Perhaps Robbo thought he could iron them out.

$600k for a project player was always too much.

The only way i see Dom Young leaving mid season is if Joey Manu returned.

Apparently the French Rugby Club he signed for is facing relegation

Oh, my, those whose sporting careers ended in under 7's plus rate their own Greek tragedy "cooking" on the off-topic site as 8's, even though its takeaway and Chef Mike does the reheating and cooking suddenly become experts on such topics.

Weidler says the Rosters were trying to offload Toops even

Rugby league reporter Danny Weidler said the club are looking to keep veteran winger Daniel Tupou and offload Young.

“There was also a fair bit of talk around Magic Round that the Roosters are shopping Daniel Tupou for Japanese rugby,” Weidler said on the Big Sports Breakfast.

“They’ve now decided that they’ve got him on contract for next year, they’re going to keep him.”

“He’s never really been on big money, he’s always been paid a bit under. That looks like settling down.

“For Dom Young, the other winger, there’s a lot of chatter that he’s on the way out. Even though he’s got a contract.

“Newcastle have heard that chatter, where he was before, and, while they haven’t heard anything official, they’re definitely keeping an eye on it. Because I think they could see him back at that club one day.”

Now the Roosters can't re-sign Sandon Smith, who is able to negotiate with other clubs come November 1, 2025.

Weidler also revealed that Roosters young gun half Sandon Smith recently rejected a contract extension offer from the club.

“Sandon Smith… I know that a little while ago, the Roosters tried to upgrade and extend him… for around $400,000 a year,” Weidler said.

“He said ‘no.’ Whether that suddenly develops into a situation where Sandon, if he keeps playing well, and they’re worried about signing Cherry, whether they could keep him as well.

“I found it unusual, even before the Cherry talk started, that [Smith] knocked it back.

Man there will be a riot and I'll be coordinating it if Toia is dropped and replaced by Manu. Fark that!
