Somewhat bittersweet. I’ve always been a fan of his just for his electric pace and how he can break a game open. It’s clear though that he hasn’t evolved his game at all beyond being really fast.

Perhaps I’m overthinking it but maybe he’s not taken the news of being dropped well and he’s kicked stones instead of working on his game in ressies. Far from the finished article and not worth 600k as a result.

Mark N is a far superior player than he is so was always going to have to come to this. I just hope we have injury cover in the likely event one of our backline goes down.

Wtf? Why would we release him now with no backup? Given our injury record, it only takes one of those backs to go down and we are screwed.

At least wait until the end of the season.

I'd keep him for this year until we know we have enough depth in the position. If Mark N or Tupou, or both, go down injured we are in big trouble.

Dom is a liability which means he's no good as a depth signing. The sooner he's gone the better! This will free up $$$.

The club must have someone in mind to replace him and offer depth. Possibly an ESL player.

If the request has come from him knowing only injury will get him back in the team then there is no point refusing his request.
If he is not prepared to fight for his spot then there's the door.
It's a lot of money for a backup so probably best for both parties.

                Another pommie winger?

Rodwell looked very strong in the trials and a few NSW Cup games I've watched online. Think he is up to it? Certainly has shown as much as players like Pauga and Ikavalu did in Reggies when they were called on in times of need
Yeh I think he’s up to it, you’re not going to get the same level of athleticism or finishing as you get with a Dom Young but he’ll give you plenty of good tough carries in yardage and seems to make pretty good decisions in defence.

Robbo has always wanted his wingers to taking hard carries and lots of them. I’m just not convinced that was ever going to be apart of Young’s game.

Honestly, I don't think it's fair to assert that he might have had a sook after being dropped.
I think it's just totally within the best interests of both parties. We're paying way too much for a back-up, Marky Mark and Smith and Toai are all clearly better, and he is entitled to feel like he's better off moving in order to play first grade. Our backline is too good, and there won't be a spot available until Toops retires (probably) at the end of next year. He would totally understand that he has no shot of pushing back into FG with us.

He has an immense amount to work on in his game, but I've got no personal dislike of him. I hope he picks up a contract somewhere, gets great money and scores a bunch of Try's (except for when he plays us).

Don't think there's any real value in holding onto him. Get it done now and start reorganising.

English flyer Dom Young could have played his last game for the Roosters with the winger granted permission to talk with rival clubs immediately.

Young has been told that he is free to leave the club if he wants before June 30 just 18 months into a four-year contract.

His former club Newcastle have emerged as a potential landing spot for Young after the Knights were never keen to let them go.

The Roosters big money deal was enough for him to make the switch last season. Young scored 20 tries in 22 games for the Roosters last year but has struggled to replicate that form this year.

It led to him being axed to NSW Cup last week.
He's struggled to replicate that form because *all* those who created the space, and the plays for him to work his magic left last season.
Sign a player for 4 years, then shortly after that do to him the same as with Sitili and May.
Anyway, he'll get his contract money one way or the other.
No way I'd be leaving for less money and be out of pocket, if I were him.

Guess it's pro footy/sport...US, you just get traded...they tell you cold..."we''ve traded you to....."

I think the problem was all the space he was creating not the other way around.

Michael Nasser was very impressive in the SG Ball grand final.

Rodwell is very quick. Watched him almost run down a very quick Penrith player in reserves a couple of weeks ago. As for his footy ability I wouldn’t know.

got to trust the club on this. if him leaving early means we minimise our outlay on him over the next two years then it's worth the gamble that none of our back 5 miss much game time for the rest of this year.
for mine dom was an attacking weapon but a defensive liability

A team of rookies, and he's supposed to score 20 + tries a season.
                              Impossible.
Can't happen, so he gets punted.
                              Not nice.
