English flyer Dom Young could have played his last game for the Roosters with the winger granted permission to talk with rival clubs immediately.
Young has been told that he is free to leave the club if he wants before June 30 just 18 months into a four-year contract.
His former club Newcastle have emerged as a potential landing spot for Young after the Knights were never keen to let them go.
The Roosters big money deal was enough for him to make the switch last season. Young scored 20 tries in 22 games for the Roosters last year but has struggled to replicate that form this year.
It led to him being axed to NSW Cup last week.

Burgess
Young
Murphy...surely the last of our Pommie Winger signings
The penny just never seemed to drop with Young. Fun to watch in space but extremely poor at all other aspects of the gameLast edited by Easts75; 05-06-2025, 04:16 PM.

Rumour is the club are happy to let him go before June 30 too which is interesting given Junior Pauga has barely played this season due to ongoing lower back pain and Tyreece Tait has been dropped down from NSW Cup to Jersey Flegg after struggling for form. Tom Rodwell has looked good in the NSW Cup and I don't think he'd let anyone down in the NRL but he's still untested and not at the level of Dom Young.
Feels premature unless they club have someone lined up or they see this as their only chance to get his 500k-600k salary off our books as there's no doubt come end of the season clubs would be looking for a cut price deal.

Rodwell looked very strong in the trials and a few NSW Cup games I've watched online. Think he is up to it? Certainly has shown as much as players like Pauga and Ikavalu did in Reggies when they were called on in times of need

You could say Martin Offiah also but he really was better when he had his second stint at St George.

Not sure what sort of confidence that puts into potential signings or existing contracts, how are we are getting things so wrong in recruitment lately.
hopefully they learn from recent decisions and don’t touch DCE, I can see the same thing happening.

I'd rather a lower grade player doing his best than Dom at $550k. We can use the money elsewhere. Hopefully Paunga comes good and we sell Dom ffor a good price.. I can't see him ever improving his defence, hit ups and positional play.
