Team with origin players out

Was going to make my own team but the only change I'd make from OPs line up is get a speciality fullback in there with Ethan King instead of hoping Mark N is up for it at these early stages of his career, these are the games where you do need to put the youth out there and see how they go in my opinion. That Makatoa fella might get himself a bench spot simply due to his 60 games of NRL experience which is more handy than a bench full of rookies.

Probably in the minority here, but I'd rather just bring Ethan King in for a straight swap for Teddy, if he's picked. I wouldn't trust Marky at fullback this early on even though I'm sure he has trained for it. Sounds harsh but I'd also like to keep Young out of the side if possible.

For what it's worth, I expect we'll be down Watson, Leniu, Crichton and Collins.

Sharks will be extremely hard to beat if we're down all those players and will without Walker and Brandon. Tigers and Knights still winnable, but difficult.

No I definitely agree if Teddy was picked I'd just go with King. Big difference between practicing at training and actually playing the position and Ethan King has been great so far this season when he's played in the NSW Cup.

Yeah probably not, I did think of that but he will be back for the next two when we have to sit out the origin reps. I also like the idea of maybe Ethan King at fullback predominantly for the reason it keeps Dom out. I think we’ve looked much better on the outside without Dom in the side and it’s far less disturbance. However I think the coach will want to see how Marky Mark goes at fullback. He’s also got more first grade experience than Ethan who has only played the one game off the bench in NRL and hasn’t played much footy this year full stop due to injury.

I dont know if Elliot will be on the bench, I cant see it. I can see Robbo giving Moriarty a run though.
If the the team you have named is the team I think Rads will go to the backrow & Foketi will play lock & Egan Butcher will come off the bench as a middle.

I hope we don’t pick Rads at 11 I think he’s best at 13 bu yeah it’s a definite possibility. Tyler Moriarty I don’t think has played a game since round 3 he has been injured there is no way he’s going to get a run in firsts in a couple of weeks time imo.

Lindsay is due back rd 12 which is the Sharks game before origin 1 so he may be back for us that week if QLD don’t risk him straight back without any games under his belt.

I loathe origin. It ruins the season entirely for teams like ours with multiple injuries. Watson and Angus biggest loss. Collins not so. Spencer replaceable in my opinion. We beat Penrith without most of these players. Foketi, Whyte , Wong and Rads can do a very good job. Hope we don’t lose Teddy. He’s the in form player in the entire NRL.

I think Xavier played 3 weeks ago in his first game back and played the next week but don’t think he played this week. DLS hasn’t made it back yet - don’t know when he’s expected.

Collins doesn’t deserve to get picked for QLD based on his club form over the last 6-9 months. Though he plays like a beast any time he puts a maroon jersey on.

On a side note, won’t walker be back before SOO (at peast the second one)

Teddy is playing better footy then Edwards.
Edwards is a top player too though.

Apart from a short period two years ago when Teddy kept trying to do too much, he always has been a playing better than Edwards.

I think Teddy is the best fullback of the modern era. He has adapted as he has aged, early on it was the power game where he ran through the opposition, and now he has added a passing and short kicking game.

Who knows what way Loz will go?? I'm not sure Angus is guaranteed to be picked either, the only player who is a walk up start is Watson.

Origin is good and bad I guess. Obviously it costs good teams competition points but on the other side I always like seeing the younger players fill in and seeing what they can do in the best competition in the world. On the plus side for Origin though it is a game of great experience for players and adds a lot of value to them.

Sam has mentioned it's a possibility he could play against the Raiders (which is the game immediately after SOO1), but most likely to return against the Knights 2 weeks later, after our 2nd bye, but before SOO2.
