  • How Will We Go During The Origin Period?

Has snuck up on us but Origin is just over 3 weeks away, unless I'm mistaken we have no bye during the Origin period and will play games during each Origin period against the Sharks, Knights and Tigers.

    Likely to play Origin:

Angus Crichton, Connor Watson, James Tedesco, Lindsay Collins

    Potentially could play Origin:

Robert Toia (Don't think he'll play but maybe in camp?), Spencer Leniu.

    ---

If we took the 4 players from the list of likely Origin players how would we go? For me personally I think Tedesco and Watson this year have been our two best and most consistent players but in terms of leadership and experience if all four of those players are Origin players this year we'd definitely struggle for experience with Tupou and Radley being the only players in our squad who would have over 100 games actually played.

Anyway, how would we do? Who would replace Tedesco and Watson? Interested in the forums thoughts...

    It’s an interesting one

-Watson is the most certain as he is an incumbent and playing well - - critchon most likely will - playing okay but not like last year ( and he and Martin on form are behind a few
    - teddy should be a walk up but don’t know with Edwards is he is allready locked away
    - Spencer is a closer shot then Collins
    - I would be surprised if Collins makes it only coming back around that time and average form before hand

could be up to 5 players which will really hurt us this year

but I think 3-4 players will make it

hard to know how loz is going to go. on the one hand he's a new coach with new ideas, on the other the team is coming off a series win.
i'd be surprised if connor, angus and spence aren't picked.
have to wait and see, but given the way the team's gone so far you'd figure we'll be in there competing.

NRL have stitched us up with none of our byes coinciding with origin dates, and against teams like Sharks and Tigers with minimal SOO involvement. Knights are the other game but they will likely being missing Best and Ponga (due to Walsh injury).

            Who would take Watson spot?
            best 14 in the game
in form and covers multiple positions so not a straight out dummy half to cover other positions but can play 9

              Marky Mark also a smokey.

He is being spoken about in selection circles.

Wouldnt look out of place tbh.

Exactly my thoughts, the NRL have conveniently put us against teams with minimal Origin players missing which will be a disadvantage for us..

Incumbent not relevant with a new coach coming in.

If Teddy plays then I'd think Marky will go back fullback and Dom on the wing.
Sammy should hopefully be back SOO2 so Sandon to replace Watto on the bench.
We have cover for Gussy and Collins if he plays any games.
I can't see Spencer getting picked.
Smokey would have to be Billy if he continues his form.
The Sharks game worries me depending who we lose game 1.

No one I hope (being selfish).

Will Angus drop the ball in Origin as much as he does for us.

NSW Team Game 3 that won game and the series was
                        1. Edwards
                        2. To'o
                        3. Best
                        4. Stephen Crichton
                        5. Lomax
                        6. Luai
                        7. Moses
                        8. Jake Trbojevic
                        9. Reece Robson
                        10. Hass
                        11. Martin
                        12. Angus Crichton
                        13. Murray -Achilles TBC
                        14. Watson
                        15. Yeo
                        16. Barnett
                        17. Leniu
                        18. Burton

All except Cameron Murray will be available - Lomax due back Round 11

Others that will be in contention for game 1 - some will come into the starting 13 i.e Cleary and possibly Tom Trbojevic

                        Cleary / Tom Trbojevic / Olakau'atu / Hudson Young / Campbell Graham / Mitchell/Tedesco

                        QLD

Lindsay Collins is due back Round 12 where players selected for S001 won't be playing unless released to play (i.e not in the final 19) - With no football for 6 or so weeks it will hard to see Lindsay being selected - Billy Slater may have other ideas though.

Thus a possible NSW Side could be
                        1. Edwards
                        2. To'o
                        3. Tom Trbojevic
                        4. Stephen Crichton
                        5. Lomax
                        6. Luai
                        7. Cleary
                        8. Jake Trbojevic
                        9. Reece Robson
                        10. Hass
                        11. Martin
                        12. Angus Crichton
                        13. Yeo
                        14. Watson
                        15. Olakau'atu
                        16. Barnett
                        17. Leniu
                        18. Burton
                        19. Hudson Young
