The Bears are coming a calling with a $12m chest of cash....on Nov 1st.
...according to the Daily Tele today.

Likely called the Perth Bears, they have a shopping list.
Any players not locked into iron clad contracts with their clubs could be lost.

Mentioned in the paper's list of possible targets...

    FB's.....Teddy.
    Halves... Sandon Smith
    Forwards...Angus Crichton

The possible Perth team for game one is named.

    Prop: Naufahu Whyte

Yes, the big black Bears are back on the road again, waving bags of cash around!

On their wish list ...for $1.5m per season contracts are Haas, Hughes, Turbo, Cobbo,
    Papenhuyzen etc.

They'll likely be after all our young players who are showing promise.
We need to sign the ones we want to keep, and pay them well.

The person just listed players that will be off contract by position - I wonder if they will compile a possible PNG first round team - I think PNG will find it harder to sign players that the Perth/WA Bears will.

The concern is also that the Bears may try to get a foothold on the Central Coast so hopefully the Roosters will have a permanent agreement with the Central Coast and they stay as the Central Coast Roosters.

Fantastic news that we will be getting the Bears back in some form at least. This goes back to Rugby League heartland and tradition that should never have left the main competition. The way they have been able to maintain a continuing RL presence and never, ever give up is one of the truly great footy stories. Greg Florimo is a champion.

Plenty of players for everyone, I always roll my eyes when people start talking of not enough good players to go round.

Marky Mark, Steep, Wong & Whyte would be my priorities as they're only going to keep getting better.

Teddy stays it's just whether he moves to the Uncle Nick lifetime 1yr contracts until you retire or he wants more security.

Toops will play on with us or retire, he took the Uncle Nick lifetime handshake a few years ago.

Let Crichton play as long as possible with his contract up, he's a beast when in that mindset.

Smith & XVa'a - probably worth assessing to see where they're at come end of season. I really like Xavier and think he could find his way onto the bench in the back end of the year.

9 players off contract...we need to get them signed by Nov1...or be punished.
We've spent so much time and money developing some of them, if we lose them we'll be disadvantaged.

So think it's great that the Bears are back but question is as the vermin after being punted and then let jack in , should never have happened but now still call themselves a foundation club , then so will the Bears still be considered ba foundation club .PS only the mighty Roosters have been in the comp since 1908 and deserve the right to be called that in my opinion .

No it will be a new team/joint venture like St George Illawarra ( Founded 1998 - First NRL season 1999) and Wests Tigers (Founded 1999- First NRL season 2000).

The Federal Court made a mistake in re-admitting Souths on appeal as was proven when the High Court by 4 to1 overturned the decision of the Federal Court - Ruled that the NRL under it's constitution can admit or expel clubs from their comp.

That precedent was set in the Wayde vs New South Wales Rugby League - High Court Decision

In Wayde v NSW Rugby League Ltd, Wests Football Club appealed the decision of the NSW Rugby League to reduce the number of participating clubs in the premiership from 13 to 12. The club argued that this decision was oppressive and unfairly prejudicial to them.

The court, however, found that the NSW Rugby League had acted within its constitutional powers in making the decision. The League's constitution explicitly allowed it to determine which clubs would participate in its competitions. The court also noted that the directors of the League had acted in good faith, believing that a smaller competition would be more manageable and lead to a shorter, more organized season.

The Roosters were going to take over the Campbelltown/Macarthur-Liverpool Juniors once the proposed merge with Newtown fell through but some shenanigans and underhanded/behind doors dealings by Moore/Parker/Arthurson/Fitzgerald allowed Wests to remain in the comp and eventually relocate to Campbelltown.

The Roosters would become too strong with all those juniors was one of the reasons given.

Don't worry, they will only be looking to sign really big, strong, fast, muscular, athletic players, so, according to you, all our guys should remain untouched.

fortunate that we'd separated from the bears and have our own reserve grade team. if we still had connections they'd have had lines of communication with anyone who wasn't in our 17

Tell me why you can't have the Central Coast Bears instead of the Perth Bears.

Just doesn't make sense. Dont agree.

There was a rumour doing the rounds in the lower grades earlier in the season that Brisbane were after Xavier and De La Salle Va'a, I hope that's not the case because they seem to have a big future.

I agree with your priority signings and we must move quickly to retain those guys because they'll be in hot demand particularly White, Steep and possibly Mark Nawaqanitawase too.
