Where was his A game last season?
I only saw it twice early last season

As for linebreaks Mason has made 3 in 647 minutes in 10 games or 121 runs

Thats 1 line break every 215.66 minutes or 40.33 runs

Compared with Cherrington 1 linebreak in 181 minutes in 4 games or 32 runs

The artical is misleading as per usual from the telecrap, Mason has shown improvement since coming back from his injury and Smith will get the most out of willie. Also remember our squad is very young and they will need some experience heads in the team .

Spot on, about the usual crap from the tellucrap !!

All smith was doing is saying the same as the Roosters.

The Roosters advised Willie, if he wanted to leave, he could, smith is keeping the same line.

All youve done is prove Melons point with those stats, weve been using Wilbur in tight, hes NEVER been that sorta player, even when 100% fit.

We use Cherro running wider, hes the same type of build to Wilbur, why dont we use Wilbur where hed be most damaging to the opposition.

In fact I wouldnt be surprised to see Wilbur near the top of hitups/metres gained stats for us this year, even defence, and thats where his name should never appear, hes not a workrate player.

He looked better early last year, why, cos we used him from the bench and ran him at the fringes.

I believe Wilbur has at least a very good season in him if correctly managed. Maybe Smiff is just the bloke to get in the blokes head.

I cannot remember the last game Willie was used in tight. He has been running at the fringes for a while now and while last week he looked better. It is a once in a blue moon occurence. He needs to do that at least every 2nd week with the cap he is chewing up as well as make more than 12 tackles in 60 minutes which is all he did last week.

I'm still up in the air about Willie, but lately i've been leaning towards wanting him to stay & hit his straps under Smith.
I think that Smith's man management skills will have Willie champing at the bit to rip in next season..

I also think that the Roosters won't offer Willie a new contract when this one ends..

Hes still playing in tight mate. In fact is probably necessary now with Myles and Shrek not there.

Masons actually topped the tackle count this season on more than one occasion. Hes also topped the hitups and metres on more than one occasion. Ive posted all those stats more than once.

I dont believe his games ever been judged on workrate, its never been the best way to use the bloke.

I still recall Freddy saying when we signed Wilbur he wanted to use the bloke wider of the ruck, and Mason agreed, he was sick of being used as a battering ram that last year or so at the Boggs.

Sadly that lasted a 1/2 a season here. Ironically its the best we and Wilbur have looked since hes been here.

Lol my post at 11.10am was not in reply to your last post as for some reason I had been logged out and had not seen that reply.

Anyway over at the NRL stats website I spotted another interesting feature yesterday that I had not noticed before. NRL Fantasy game points.

Willie is the 62nd highest average points per game

                            http://203.166.101.37/NRL/index.html

Go to the bottom of the table and click on fantasy

and thats just counting the 2nd rowers

You're being very harsh on Mason imo, the bloke has just come of major surgery. I don't think people understand how hard this actually is.

Lets look at last season whe he was injury free last season

3rd most linebreaks in our side.
1st most tackle breaks from our forwards
1st in avg metres gained from our forwards
3rd for tries scored from our forwards

Willie came out and said in the press that he finally feels 100% and to me he has been playing that way the last 3 games.

                              In the last three games he has;

                              * Averaged over 100 metres per game
                              * Made 2 linebreaks and 9 tackle breaks
                              * Scored a try

Even more impressive last week I thought he lead from the front, no stat for that I know but he picked John up, tossed him over the sideline, then made a line break and then scored a try. We talk about people who can turn a game on its head and a fit Mason can do that, when I look across our team there's not many others. We lost a lot when he and Friend went off, it was no coincidence.
