Playing any two teams within 7 rounds is ridiculous, which is the only thing that really annoys me about the draw.

who we play when, doesn’t really bother me. I assume the clubs still put in a preference of who they want to play to draw the best crowds, and I think we are lucky to get the dragons on Anzac Day, and Souths twice a year.

I Don’t get excited when we play teams like titans, tigers,Parra, cowboys, warriors. Big games like broncos,Souths, storm, dragons, bulldogs and manly are the ones I really enjoy. Might not be great for racking up the wins, but I get a lot more satisfaction from those games.

Oh I get that. I would never want us to lose the Anzac Day game, or playing Souffs twice. But I guess what I’m saying is the NRL are aware we play Anzac Day and Souffs in the first month or so, so why make our draw even harder at the start by adding 2 games each against the heavyweight Broncos and 4 time premiers Penrith? Why not spread it out more? Our draw is horrendous at the start this year.

Be interesting in the coming years when the 18th and 19th sides are added to the comp in how many rounds they will play - I can see a 20th team added as well in the 2030's - NZ 2 or Pacifica

204 games currently with 17 teams - teams play 24 games with 3 byes

        18 teams - 9 games each week - teams play 24 games with 3 byes - 216 games
        19 teams - 9 games each week - teams play 24 games with 3 byes - 216 games
        20 teams - 10 games each week - teams play 24 games and 3 byes - 240 games.

A number of folk are saying if 20 teams - play each other once - teams play 19 games with 2 or 3 byes -190 games

14 less games currently with 20 teams if they only play each other once but 2 more games each round

Not sure the NRL will be able to negotiate a broadcast rights such as the AFL's one - 4.5 billion (2025-2031) - NRL's one is around 2 billion (2023 to 2027)

NRL Broadcast Rights expire in 2027 - approximately 400 million per year - 17 teams and possibly 18 teams in 2027 (Western Bears) - 19 in 2028 (PNG) - 11.8 salary cap in 2025 including 300k long servicing player/development allowance and 100K MV - 30 players

        AFL Broadcast Rights - 2025 to 2031 - approximately 643 million per year - 18 teams - 19 in 2028 - 17.7 million salary cap in 2025 - primary list 36 to 38 players

didn't watch it but phins have just conceded 30 unanswered points to lose by 12. don't know what effect that will have next week.

i thought the club gets a financial bonus for making it a home game and we wanted it that way

              Our draw is absolutely diabolical.
Its almost as bad as the crap refereeing decisions we cop.
The NRL don’t want us contesting the finals series.
We play the heavyweights twice - Riff, Broncs, Sharks, Storm and Bulldogs.
The perennial lightweights and easybeats once - Titans, Tigpies, Eels, Knights and to some extent Cowgirls.
              Amazing, isn’t it?

Everyone knows the QRL runs league. How does it make sense that we play the Phins have two home games against us?

The NRL has all but given magic round to the city of Brisbane. I thought NZ should have been given a chance after the Covid season.

We're up to rd 8 & we've played 4 games at home, 2 other Sydney games & only 2 games out of Sydney plus we've had all 7 & 8 days turn arounds.
The Sharks have played 2 home games & have played in Vegas, Townsville, Canberra, Western Australia & Newcastle having a couple of 5 & 6 day turn arounds.
The NRL dont give a fark if we are contesting the final series because if they did we wouldnt have contested in the final series for the last 13 years out of 14.
Clubs request to the NRL who they want to play twice & the Roosters want to play Brisbane, Souths & Melbourne twice. If you want the Chooks to play all the easy beats twice then good on you but Im more than happy to play the contenders twice, I want to see the Chooks beat the good sides not just the easy beats,
Its not amazing at all, its just you being one eyed & you being a whinger.

I'm not a whinger, mate, just a passionate Roosters fan.

I call it the way I see it.

Maybe you think that fans who complain about Teddy being taken out by Edwards 2 weeks ago , without even a penalty, are whingers.

It sounds like you would just love to see the Roosters play all of the Top Eight teams throughout the season, and nobody else, get physically smashed up, just in time to go through it all again come finals time.

Of course you would - everbody knows you are a closet Souff Sydney fan.

Well said Mac...I'm pretty sure we didn't 'request' to play Bronx and Panthers twice each within the first 7 rounds.

Clubs are involved in the format of the draw each year though.

The nrl couldn't organise a root in a brothel.
Magic round and the draw are two examples of this.

I just seen on news that half the ground is being ripped up and re-laid before the women's origin match, I'm glad we don't have a Sunday game.
