Seriously, not every team has the best attacking halves or weapons, but the coachable tangent is the defence..surely a good coach can drill a team of average players into at least a good defensive unit?
Or just having a good simple kick and chase and last tackle option?/
These are things a coach can control surely. Just being physically fit and mobile to defend like nothing else and have a last tackle option that can give some control.
Thats all I want to see....I dont need a million points or a win every week (well that would be good)..I just want to know that we can defend our line against a penalty or lucky bounce...but we cant and we haven't for a year. I want to turn up knowing that we are a chance even if we know we ahvent got the goods for the premiership.
Just like when we had Ricky and so many injuries against say the broncos in 2002....some of those loses were more pleasing than our wins in recent years...with a squad of kids!!
Ive always been a Smith defender and he was the right fit at the right time....but surely he can be accounable for the coachable things a team does.
