Exactly! We lack speed and the ability to finish. I think he is a good buy for us...however I still think we need another good quality winger to sign. Oldfield will be a fringe player and mainly play as a utility back Im guessing.

Would Steve Turner fit this? I wasn't the biggest fan of his but watching his work at the bulldogs over the last couple of years, especially when he was defending outside idris (who truly is a horrible defender) he makes great decisions, is a good finisher, suprisingly still has some speed, is solid in the air and also could be a back up goal kicker.

Honestly I really like him but think he would cost us too much, i think we will be set in the outside backs, SKD will be in the centres along with BJ (I would like to give him one more year then look to move him in closer, no need to force it while we have this much depth in the forwards) and that leaves Oldfield, Moga, Tagive and Henry (who we should re-sign) to compete for the wing spots and then there is still the likes of RTS, Rockolati and a few others developing.

we might lack speed but i can't recall too many examples of our wingers being too slow that they've cost us possible trys..

agreed. the only off-contract player i wouldnt mind us getting from the dogs is romelo if mitchell leaves (which looks certain at this stage). apart from that, turner and wright in particular are pretty decent players but not better than what we already have. Im a big tim lafai fan though and if he were to become availiable, I wouldnt be adverse to us picking him up - fast, great footwork, skillful and very strong.

in the forwards, tolman at the right price also wouldnt be a bad signing

True but those were under 20s games, if I'm not mistaken. And Michael Oldfield is about 10 cm taller than the Cannonball.

You were mistaken....they were NRL games in the main.

Roz, I think Romelo would be a great signing. Hope it happens. Wright would be handy too, but when RTS comes in they will move Mini to the wing, which means we probably already have the other three outside back spots covered. If we had a suitable option at fullback, I would move Mini now. He will still make the hard yards at dummy half and his experience at fullback will serve him well when the cross-field bombs come his way. We struggle in this department. I think Oldfield has the potential to be a great fullback. Size and speed, very good under the high ball.
Mini is a great clubman, one of our greatest. Always pledged his loyalty to the Roosters and his experience is essential considering the young squad we have. It's the smart move. May even prolong his career.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad I put the coda in.

Joel Romelo is just like Chris Sandow - Short, Fat and Absolute Crap!! Surely we can do better than that nuffy!!

OK so he can run through a break, fast, and land on a grubber kick...great, but grubber kicks are as rare as hens teeth whilst Pearce is kicking. I would prefer some ball player rather than another young runner, but we'll wait and see.
