DCE is very good & I hope he comes to the Chooks but I tell you what Adam Reynolds is also top notch, off contract & younger than DCE but is injury prone.
Who? "Everybody hates the Roosters" Reynolds?
No thank you!
The new contracts talks around Ponga is for a 2 million a season deal which is dependant on the new broadcast rights which would start from 2028 - Ponga is signed to 2027 with the Knights on 1.2 mill a season plus the 300k a year third party deals he is currently on.
Gees clubs will really make it hard for themselves to fill a competitive rosters paying such money for players - All players will want a pay rise
He loves that club’: Knights set to kick off Ponga extension talks... as $2m salary looms for superstar
Clubs can make it hard on themselves investing a few years in players that aren't taking the team anywhere also....your boy Sandon has no future withbus if we 'play for Premierships' like the club says. As a rule we simply do not develop halves.
Nrl360 last night believe dce is all but a done deal to roosters. Gawd I hope not. Sandon would be like Pearcy and off to another club, I dare say, which unlike Pearcy is young and has likely a great future combo w Sammy.

By that logic Sam Walker has no future with us either?

At that point Mitchell Pearce had played 18 games of Origin, won a grand final and was a proven commodity. Sandon Smith is a young player who up until last week had spent the majority of the season being outplayed by Chad Townsend and Hugo Savala.
It was one good game, you don't give up on a superstar of the game in DCE for one good game.

Any team in the comp would trade Sandon Smith for Daly Cherry-Evans.
Bet you a $50 it would bite us on the ass .There is a great footballer in there about to explode
There's no way we're signing him. After the emergence of Hugo, the rise of Sandon, and the returning Sam, plus the many others Rooster 6 bangs on about, there is simply no way. Sign a 37 yo, and put every one of those guys back a spot? What, for 2 years? We'd lose half of them. Then Cherry Evans retires. Complete insanity.
The Gold Coast will be perfect for Cherry Evans. Been a really good player for a long time, but he's not for us, given what we have.
