This is a pretty funny post.

Has Sam Walker ever said he has the desire to be a Bronco? If I recall his last comment on it was that he's very happy at the Roosters and the Roosters are his home and he didn't even bother to test the market. Any time he's talked about the Broncos it has kind of been negative and he has expressed dislike at them overlooking him but according to you he's Broncos bound in 28?

Also, who says Hugo Savala and Sandon will even leave? Robson comes into the side next season, Watson probably moves to lock which opens up a bench utility spot. If the Roosters desperately wanted to keep one of those players they could just play them in that bench utility role.

Even in your example which is the most doom and gloom example here we'd be able to recruit a half anyway to replace Walker, not that he's leaving anyway...
Coaches will roll the dice when it comes to signing a halfback or five-eighth as there is a major shortage of capable halves. I will bet my left nut that Flanno would sign Sandon for $600k plus after last round. Ryles would be another coach interested Imo. Hastings is on around $800k which goes to show you just how desperate some clubs are.

The Club has earmarked Sam Walker as a 7 so they sign DCE and Sam moves to 5/8 but has competition for that spot from Sandon Smith and Hugo Savala - who knows how that works out,

Have some faith in the development and not as one posters rightly said "knee jerk" reaction signings.

I take notice of people who know the game at the highest level of their opinion of players - Gus Gould . Andrew Johns and Cooper Cronk for an example rate Sandon Smith highly - Gus Gould tried to sign Sandon plus Robert Toia and Tyler Moriarty a few years back and no doubt will be keep a close eye on this - Tried to sign Darcy Smith as well another player on the rise at the Roosters

"They've got Sam Walker to come back, and they've got this young fella, Sandon Smith, who I've really rated for a long time, he's a great kid and getting better. His performance on Anzac Day was extraordinary and they've still got Sam Walker to come back yet.

"I don't see why the Roosters need Daly Cherry-Evans. Nothing against Daly Cherry-Evans, you know what I think of him. He's an astonishing player and he's still in great form, but Sandon Smith and Sam Walker are surely their long-term combination.

Having seen Sandon play from Andrew Johns Cup onwards I know what he means - I rate him as well. - He has an eye on Hugo Savala as well - Gus has a liking for the Roosters pathways players.

Gould believes the early development shown by local junior Savala in the top grade, as well as the emergence of Toby Rodwell beneath would hold the Chooks in good stead.

"Hugo improves by the week, he's always a handy backstop for both of them," he said.

Hugo getting the taste of NRL won't be happy to be just a back up though.

Unfortunately we've also blooded a couple of great prospects this year, and we can't keep 'em all. It's not Pokemon.
Sorry, I don't really go with the "Mentoring" argument.
Sounds to me like a new age bullshit term, designed to keep the PC brigade happy.
Besides I thought Cooper Cronk was already there to "mentor" the halves
What can DCE teach Walker anyway, that Sam doesn't already know?

DCE has struugled to put more than 2 decent performances this year, out of eight.
I watched him on a live broadcast a few weeks ago , and he was absolutely atrocious.
He was throwing balls out over the sideline.
Another thing in his game, that really annoys me, is that he appears to be afraid to run the ball.
He just throws it out the back to his support players.
Similar to what Chad Townsend does.
Sorry, I just can't warm to a half that does not threaten the line ( unlike Sandon and the other great halfback mentioned in the news lately , Johnny Mayes.)
The only time DCE looks any good is when Tommy Turbo fires, and when he is not in the team , Manly (and DCE) look like a steaming pile of dogshit.
The only concession I will make is that DCE has a good kicking game.
Gus Gould even said he rates Sandon, and he is only going to get better, and why are the Roosters chasing DCE?
            That's good enough for me.
It will be interesting to see how DCE as well as Sandon / Savala perform over the next couple of months.
That might go towards settling the debate.
Did you watch the game against Penrith? Granted they are the shits this year every single try went down DCE's side and he dished 2 try assists and almost scored one himself. DCE has never really been a runner of the ball from my memory but in the Roosters set up he doesn't really need to be as Sam Walker is that kind of player and can threaten with running whilst DCE sets everything up and kicks.

DCE struggles without Tom T in the side because those are the only two really great players that Manly have and the rest aside from Jake Trbojevic and Olakau'atu are kind of average. We're not asking DCE to sign and play with the likes of Luke Brooks and Jake Simpkins instead we want him to play with Tedesco, Walker and Robson, there is a significant difference there.

Gould doesn't want the Roosters to sign DCE because us signing DCE would make us favourites to win the comp along with Melbourne and he obviously wants the Doggies to win.

Is that the best you can do ? lol.

Hey I'm learning how to play the Violin and it's extremely challenging.

              Do you play an instrument?

                Really

Not sure what you play would be called an instrument though Master but you probably play with it a lot every day.

Never mind I can play Guitar / Bass and Drums.

Very much doubt you would ever be proficient at Violin and or Cooking for that matter - Certainly someone Gordon Ramsay wouldn't rate by the looks of what you say you "cook" - Most likely takeaway and pretend you "cook" it.

One of my brothers undertook a course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney - Further Studies in Europe and also played in numerous orchestras in Europe and Australia.

Don't disagree with you, but it could be something the Walkers have asked for. What do I know though.

                    Same old Sally jokes.

Your key takeouts from tonights exchange is to challenge yourself. (not to be confused with your other favourite pastime)

                    1. Challenge yourself to form your own opinion. (Pretty much impossible but give it your best shot)
2 Challenge yourself to write some new jokes. (More chance of it snowing at Allianz Stadium)

                      Really

Master you really expose yourself as someone that lacks even the basic knowledge of the game as you advocate signing any player for way above their market value. You have little knowledge of how the salary works, as me and others have had to inform you so many times about how it works. This can be easily looked up online via the NRL site.

I would fear for the survival of the Roosters club if you and others of your ilk on here had a say in how the football club operates. Fortunately, your views are never taken seriously.

The problem with social media, as they call it is giving people a voice when they wouldn't normally have one.

Not quite sure of the problem you have with expert opinions though from people that have played the game and coached the game at the highest level.

Never mind here's a Gordon Ramsay cooking class you may learn something from

                      • I'm a fan of signing dce, I'm thinking sandon might be squeezed out .

dce, walker at 5/8 th or vice versa, I'm guessing watson to the bench with Robson coming , hugo maybe moved to lock , but need to see more of him and he would need to fill out .

but then where does radley play? gus and wong are edges, whyte, collins, leniu and one of the butchers are props/ middles , radley has to start , plus foketi and steep need game time so I don't know , robbo's issue to work out .

or maybe don't sign dce, trust walker and sandon but then no long kicking game , damn who'd be a coach .

                          2026:

                          1. Tedesco 2. Tupou 3. Billy Smith. 4 Toia 5. Mark N 6. Walker 7. DCE 8. Collins 9. Robson 10. Whyte 11. Crichton 12. Radley 13. Watson

                          14. Savala 15. N. Butcher 16. Leniu 17. Wong

                          ---

For me that's a premiership winning side. Alternatively put Wong to 12, Radley to 13, Watson to 14 and put Steep/Foketi at 17.

I had a look at the extended highlights of the Riff vs Manly game, and still my opinion of DCE is "meh"
The first "try assist" for Olakahatu was a bomb by Cherry Evans - Olakahatu had to do all the work to get above Edwards, catch the ball and score.
The second "try assist" was the out the back ball for Tommy Koula - Koula made the try, simply with his pace.
What you, amd all the other idiots that commentate on the TV missed, is the shytehouse effort from Cherry Evans to let in the first Riff try by Blaze Talungi.
DCE stood around and just looked at Talungi when he scored.
What you, and me, see on the football field is obviously different - what you think is a great game , I call as bog average.
Same as our opinions on DCE - lets leave it at that.

Good side however as much as I like Hugo’s composure and kicking game if we have DCE I think he becomes surplus to requirements unfortunately.

Wong to 12 Rads to 13

Watto to 14 for Hugo but need to find him 60mins in the 14. So he can come in when we give Robson 20 mins rest, Vic 20mins rest and find him another 20 mins somewhere. Hes going too good.

Then Foketi into the 17 would be my team. I’d also keep Walker at 7 DCE 6

The disappointing thing about this side are the youngsters that will miss out in Sandon, Steep, Losalu, Savala and Egan as well. I was very impressed with Egans first game back last week he might push up this year given some luck with injury and selections.

there will always be youngsters miss out even if we don’t sign DCE and you need a good squad depth to get you through the season with the younger guys playing a lot of nrl anyway during the year

some of these guys may need more nsw cup time to round their game as well before just learning to survive in the nrl
