Just was having a listen to Braith Anasta's podcast, and he mentioned a few things:

1. He has spoken to a lot of Roosters higher-ups in the last 24-hours (Nick)
2. DCE is done and will come on a 1-year deal, and likely 2-years afterwards in a halves coaching role
3. Roosters have a degree of interest in Cobbo and Ponga. Ponga is signed on for several more years at Newcastle but "can't possibly be happy right now"
4. DCE would be being bought to win a comp next year
5. Hugo was offered potential starting roles at other clubs, such as the Bulldogs. Knocked them back to stay at the Chooks on a development contract, and was confident he would get his chance
6. Apparently Brandon has done an interview where he has been very apologetic to the Chooks

EDIT: Also strongly alluding to personal issues Brandon has had, e.g. gambling I assume.

Still listening, so will update this if I hear anything else of note.

One thing I'd really like to see would be for us to tell any young players we let go "Absolutely nothing personal, there just isn't space for you right now. Go away for a few years, get some experience and then come home. We'd love to have you back."

Could this be why we're clearing so many players out? My assumption is that DCE was covered in the loss of Keary, Suaalii, JWH, Manu, Jennings, Napa, Tupounuia but then the club has gotten rid of May, Smith and Young since then also, Chad and maybe Sandon are gone at the end of the year also so those four or five players would clear up around 1.5 to 2.0 million dollars if the media reports are correct.

It just seems like an odd choice of players. Our backline is quite strong and I don't know where Cobbo would fit in unless Tupou was moved on. Tedesco has done nothing to be moved on either even if we could get Ponga for the 2026 season I'd want Tedesco still I think.

No worries. I found it interesting too, especially re Cobbo and Kalyn. I think Payne comes off end of next year? I can't imagine all of this money is just going to DCE and upgrades. Surely not.

I wouldn't feel to sorry for sandon if he os released prob a big pay day coming for him and he is not a dud.

just prob not a good nor great half, but decent , maybe the equivalent of a Kodi nikorima , he'll be ok .

How can the Knights be competitive next season with so much money tied up in their halves pairing. Ponga and Brown will both be on $1.3 million a year.

I reckon they're looking at offloading Ponga who at that price has been poor value for them. I'm also surprised that Peter O' Sullivan thinks that Dylan Brown is worth $13 mill over 10 years! Strange move from one of the games best recruitment managers imo.

As for Cobbo. I don't rate him! We don't need him and seriously hope we don't sign him.
