Can't force kiddies to play any particular sport as they have a wide range of options sport wise these days that they could make a living from if any good at these- 4 Football Codes , Cricket , Baseball , Softball , Basketball , Netball, Athletics , Tennis , Golf etc

According to the link below you do have NRL development officers covering that area plus St George -Illawarra Dragons who work with the 35 rugby league clubs across the three region to increase both junior player and qualified volunteer numbers.

People seem to be under the impression that the NRL runs it all - they are the governing body and operator of the national rugby league comp only.

The charging of a fee to view the live streaming of junior and senior rep games is at the discretion of the relevant state league who are the governing body of the code and operator of the various competitions in their state.

NSWRL are providing access to view over 900 games - both junior and senior reps in 2025- before 2021 there were no games streamed live at all.

$19.95 per month is chicken feed - less than the cost of two beers in Sydney - $11.00 is around the average price for a beer in Sydney

Maybe you haven't heard there's a cost of living crisis at the moment King Salvo. On top of everything else and how much everything has gone up, an extra $20 a month isn't "chicken feed" for some families. These parents don't go out and buy $11 beers. They can't afford to. These are families with multiple kids living on one income. Not everyone has the same circumstances as you. That should be a fairly simple concept for you to grasp.

You brought it up - "They can't afford to. These are families with multiple kids living on one income" - They would receive Family Tax Benefit Payments and maybe other benefits as well - People that cry poor never say what other benefits they receive which are tax free as well.

Less than $10 a fortnight is hardly going to break the bank.

I think you are severely underestimating the expertise and infrastructure costs associated with running a good streaming service. There's a good reason why all major sports leagues still sell their content to external streaming services and don't run them in house.

Our Mother said she hardly received much under what was called at the time Child Endowment. - There were 11 of us too - we didn't miss out on anything and went on holidays each year including overseas to UK. Our Father was a line inspector with the PMG after returning from WW2 so was away a lot - receiving the LAFHA ( Living Away From Home Allowance0 would have helped.

                Not easy back then either

The table shows the rates in dollars per week (pw). -payment columns are 1 to 5 + children and the date is payable from.

Buy more licensed clubs, fill them with pokies and voila you have the money to bank roll your junior pathway systems. It works for Penrith!

The best part about this deal is the profits the NSWRL make from this revenue stream are going back into the grassroots to support clubs and families with those costs.

The NSWRL has sold the content to a private enterprise and in return will make profit on the deal based on performance metrics around number of subscriptions and views.

By stopping the NSWRL from being able to sell this content and instead getting the NRL to stream it for free the NRL will be worse off to the tune of millions in operating, logistics and infrastructure costs and the NSWRL will be worse off to the tune of millions that they could be giving to the club's and families to assist with costs of playing.

As ideologically romantic as it is to think that we can lower costs for the club's and families without increasing revenue streams that Utopia just doesn't exist.

If the argument is that families shouldn't have to pay to watch their kids play sure I can get on board with that. I think the Roosters should buy match pass codes for family members of our jnr rep players to use to watch their kids play. Hell I don't care who funds that but suggesting the NRL should just fund a streaming service when there are so many more practical solutions is the epitome of pissing money down the drain.

If the NRL is going to fund something it should running more programs for kids to increase awareness and engagement.

It's not even just busy footy, Auskick puts NRL to shame across all of Sydney.

Are they doing it tougher than families during WW1 / Post WW1 /The Depression years / WW2 and post WW2 though. - Of course not and never will.

The majority managed to get through those times with little or no Government hand outs.

Problem nowadays is people expect someone else to assist them instead of getting off their behinds and doing it themselves.
